This not only saves them on initial cost ofthe tyre, but also extends the length of time before removal,saving a tremendous amount of money on maintenance andreplacement costs, over a shorter wear duration new tyre.

The “Monster” 6.00-6 is the overall value leader, with animpressive tread depth of .321, surpassing the tread depth of any 600-6 on the market. The cost savings for overhauledtyres are significant and provide the user premium grade tyres at the cost of a budget tyre. You can send us your worntyres for retreading or buy them as outrights. We utilize Laser Shearography Interferometry NDT testing(www.desser.com/content/retreading.asp) on most of ourretreaded tyres, as this method provides the best safety andquality analysis possible. From large jet transport retreads and program pricing, to a Cessna 172 nose tyre, we stockand supply them all.

Aero Classic tubes are the hands down market leader, withmost sizes available in natural rubber or “leakguard” butylrubber. Aero Classic provides more aircraft tubes to the USMilitary than any other manufacturer. You may think yourGeneral Aviation aircraft is tough on its tubes, but the sametube available to you also meets the needs of an "unnamed"application that must stay airborne for 24 hour periods at50,000 feet. CAMO+Augsburg Air Servicereceives Approval as CAMO+Organization for TecnamP2006T andCessna 560XL

After a successful audit the Federal Office ofCivil Aviation has granted Augsburg Air Servicethe license to supervise the following additionalaircraft types as CAMO+ organization(Airworthiness Management Organisation),beginning June 24, 2015:

In April 2009 the Part M of EU Regulation2042/2003 for aircraft in non-commercial operation became effective. It pertains to main-taining and verifying the continous airworthinessof components and aircraft. Since the regulationis very complex and the ensuing paperwork isquite substantial, many customers will not havethe time to comply with the detailed legalrequirements without professional help.

That is why many owners and operators assignthis responsibility to an authorized CAMO+organization. As experienced CAMO+ organization Augsburg Air Service will developan approved maintenance program if neededand will also take care of the complete and correct documentation.

George Neal, a long-time de Havilland Aircraft ofCanada test pilot, has set a new aviation record,qualifying as the oldest active, licensed pilot onEarth. Neal is entering the Guinness Book ofWorld Records for remaining a pilot at 96 years

and 194 days as of his qualifying flight on June 2this year. Neal has held a Canadian pilot certificate since 1936, amassing more than15,000 hours on 150 aircraft types.

Many of those hours came while he was a testpilot for de Havilland Canada. Joining the company in 1947, he was pilot-in-command forthe first flights of the DHC-3 Otter, CS2FTrackerand DHC-4 Caribou, and he served as part ofthe flight-test teams for the DHC–1 Chipmunk,DHC-2 Beaver, DHC-6 Twin Otter, DHC-5 Buffalo,Dash 7 and Dash 8.

NEW AIRCRAFT300 km/hour in aluxurious ultralight- Functional test flights of the new UltralightRISEN produced by Swiss Excellence Airplanes

(SEA), a Swiss company domiciled in the Ticinoregion of Switzerland, have been successfully completed. The performance of the RISEN opens upnew avenues for private aviation, both for sport andbusiness.

The RISEN is an Ultralight aircraft by categoryonly and sharing with the conventionalUltralights, currently on the market, onlyapproval and fuel consumption. The RISEN how-ever, offers space, comfort and luxury in additionto performance characteristics which exceedand are in fact in many aspects considerablymore superior than general aircrafts!

These, in brief, are the credentials of the newestUltralight on the market today. The RISEN wasfirst unveiled to the public for the first time inApril 2015 at AERO 2015 in Friedrichshafen/Germany. The RISEN, designed by Italian/Argentinian engineer Alberto Porto, is producedand assembled by SWISS EXCELLENCE AIRPLANES (SEA) in the Ticino region ofSwitzerland and thus combines Italian flair, as faras design features are concerned, together withSwiss precision for manufacturing and assemblyof high quality products.

To make it clear and to avoid any misunder-standing: the RISEN which will be presented inFriedrichshafen is NOT a prototype but as an air-craft which is available on the market right now!

Personalisation as far as the interior is con-cerned will of course be possible. What SEA willbe exhibiting at the Fair is the final version of aluxurious and superfast Ultralight which hasgone into production earlier this year after exten-sive and exhaustive testing of the prototype! It’s the culmination of many years of designing,testing and continuous improvements in performance and comfort and will without anydoubt satisfy the demands of sports pilots andbusiness people alike.

To take control of an Ultralight aircraft onlyrequires a ‘Certificate for recreational and sportsflying’, a document which is considerably easierand quicker to obtain than a private pilot’slicence as the test criteria is less onerous andnot as stringent as the private pilot’s licence.

Due to the arrival of the RISEN, it is now possible to experience flying at speeds in excessof 300 km/h at continuous horizontal speed. M6 road tripfor Cosford’s new VC10 The Royal Air ForceMuseum Cosford ispleased to announcethat its latest acquisi-tion, VC10 serialnumber XR808 hasnow arrived atCosford, following afinal road trip alongthe M6 motorway.

After a successful eight month dismantling processcarried out by GJD Services, a specialist mainte-nance and aircraft salvage company based atBruntingthorpe, Leicestershire, the VC10 finallyarrived at Cosford on Sunday 21 June.

The 93ft long fuselage departed fromBruntingthorpe early on the Sunday morning andarrived at Cosford shortly after 1.00pm. Transportedon a low loader lorry, the route saw the aircraft passalong the M69, M6 and the M54 to Cosford, via thenearby village of Shifnal. Too large to pass underthe railway bridge at Cosford, the fuselage made itsway to Junction 4 on the M54 and through Shifnal,with some tricky manoeuvring en route, beforeheading onto the airfield at RAF Cosford.

RAF Museum Apprenticeexcels at skills awards An Apprentice at theRoyal Air ForceMuseum Cosford has won an award at the Sheet Metal Skills Competition, organised by theInstitute of SheetMetal Engineering(I.S.M.E.).

The awards were held at the Morgan MotoringCompany, Malvern earlier this month and MuseumApprentice Matthew Treanor-Cartwright, aged 20from Stoke-on-Trent, beat off tough competition towin the category of ‘Best Written Document’ for hisreport on a test piece – a ducting made from sheetsteel and copper rivets.

In addition to the ducting and written document,Matthew also entered a piece into the Open Classcategory where entrants could submit an article oftheir own choice using any type of sheet metal.There were no restrictions on the design of the workpiece or on the materials used, the only stipulationbeing that the piece uses sheet metal as the principal material. There is a largeglobal base ofhelicopters in service with asignificant andacceleratinggrowth of new-build helicopters being added tothe market over the next 20 years. Key to helicopter manufacture and heavy maintenance isaccurately aligning the helicopter’s transmissionshafts.

Current methods for doing this have barelychanged in over 40 years, are manual and verytime-consuming and require a considerableamount of the helicopter transmission to beremoved from the airframe before the jigs andequipment can be fixed in position. Theseprocesses then rely on two aircraft techniciansworking in tandem to view and measure transmission shaft alignment. Typically theseprocesses take approximately 1 man week per aircraft. The seven-seat DA62 twin Diamond aircraft hasmade its French debut at France Air Expo afterits formal launch in April at AEROFriedrichshafen.

Diamond's DA62 is a low-wing, twin-engine, carbon structure, with diesel cycle engines runby the FADEC. Its payload is in the region of 680kg and it can fly with a payload of 400 kg withina seven-hour battery lifespan, plus IFR reservesat an average speed of about 175 kts, consum-ing an average of 46 litres of Jet A1 per hour.

The DA62 offers a spacious cabin and isequipped with Garmin G1000 avionics. In lessthan a month Diamond Aircraft has registeredfirm orders for 15 aircraft.

Birmingham Airport has recorded the busiest May in its history, as over 900,000passengers passed through the terminal lastmonth. Latest figures reveal the Airport handled a total of 904,860 passengers in May,beating its previous record for the month setin 2014 by 1.3%.

May’s passenger numbers mean the Airport hasnow achieved four record-breaking months in2015, as January, March and April also saw arecord number pass through the terminal.

Scheduled traffic in May accounted for 81% ofthe total figure, with charter passengers makingup the remaining 19%

Mahindra Group subsidiary, MahindraAerospace has been awarded a large aero-components production contract by AirbusGroup company, Premium AEROTEC ofGermany. The multi-year contract envisages the manufacture and supply by Mahindra of a variety of metallic components that will be fittedinto several Airbus aircraft programs as part ofassemblies produced by Premium AEROTEC.

Mahindra Aerospace’s deliverables under thiscontract will be in excess of a million parts perannum. The parts will be produced at the newMahindra Aerostructures facility located atNarsapura, near Bengaluru, India. Deliveries toPremium AEROTEC’s facilities in Germany arescheduled to commence this year. Announcingthe contract award during the 2015 Paris AirShow at Le Bourget, senior representatives ofthe Airbus and Mahindra groups mentioned thatthis contract is aligned with the Indian

Government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and validates the two Groups’ commitment to accelerate India’s participation in the globalaerospace industry while simultaneously creating high-growth opportunities within India’sburgeoning aerospace and defense eco-system.

AIR TAXIWijet wins overincreasing clientnumbers with Mustang air taxi

Wijet Cessna Mustang Air Taxi.

Paris-based air taxi operator Wijet, founded in2009, is reporting very favourable uptake on itsMustang air taxi model. "We offer a fixed priceper flight hour, regardless of the date, time or flying season," says CEO Corentin Denoeud.

“Wijet provides private jet transport to 1,200 destinations in Europe and north Africa at a setprice of €2,400 per flight hour, so only €600 perperson if four people are flying. This allows travellers the opportunity to board a private jetvery easily.”

Reservations can be completed online, without subscription or additional costs, andthe operator says that this method means thatit is 40 per cent cheaper than some competitors.

“One could fly from Geneva to the FrenchRiviera for less than [euro]350 a seat, or fromSevilla to London for less than [euro]500. Not only does this bring luxury to everybody, it also allows people to land closer to their destination,” Denoeud adds. “We have 1,200 different European and north African airports at the client's disposal. Our light and agile jetsare able to land in even the smallest of airports. Long lines, baggage troubles, andtrains leading out of major airports are all eliminated.”

Following the acquisition of a fifth aircraft inNovember 2014, the company plans toincrease its fleet with two additional aircraft inthe first half of this year. It is forecasting a funding gain of [euro]15 million and has set agoal of tripling the numbers of aircraft in itsfleet over the next two years.

COMPANY NEWSAirbus heads for1,000th Dauphin 2 delivery

The 1,000th Dauphin 2 delivery,(similar to the Bond exampleabove), is in service with the Nagoya Fire Department.

Airbus Helicopters is on the point of deliveringthe 1,000th Dauphin 2 – by which we are including the 365N models including the EC155 (technically the AS365N4). Starting at serial6001, the authorities in Japan have issued theregistration JA08AR to an AS365N3+ with serial7001. That marks the passing of the 1,000thdelivery and the aircraft is in service with theNagoya Fire Department..

In the absence of a flag-waving press releasefrom Airbus Helicopters, we assume the landmark aircraft has not yet been delivered. It is quite common for aircraft off a productionline to not only be made in non-numerical order,and even more rare for them to be deliveredfrom the factory in any given order, andHeliHub.com research finds a number of gaps inthe serial range 6980 to 7000 which are likely stillat the factory. This is usually due to a combination of factors including specificationand equipment to be installed, delivery daterequirements of the customer, and so on.Earlier “Dauphin” models including the SA360and the SA365C are not included in the totalsabove.

Airbus Helicopters H160Flight Test campaignlaunched

The H160 during the first test flight.

Airbus Helicopters’ highly innovative H160 flewfor the first time in Marignane on Saturday, 13June, shortly after beginning its ground runs endof May. The aircraft flew for about 40 minutes inground effect that allowed the flight test team tocheck the overall behavior of the aircraft and toverify the measurements.

“The first flight was very promising in terms ofstability, vibrations, and sound levels,” saidOlivier Gensse, the flight test pilot, upon landingthe aircraft. The flight test campaign has nowbeen launched and the next flights will begin toopen the flight envelope progressively.

The aircraft already reached 130kts during thesecond flight on Wednesday.

“We are very proud that the H160 has reachedanother milestone on time,” said BernardFujarski, head of the H160 program. “The dedi-cation of the team working on the program haspaid off and we are all looking forward to thefinal development phase to bring this highlyanticipated helicopter to the market.”

In order to complete this final developmentphase and to ensure the H160’s entry into serv-ice in 2018, Airbus Helicopters is relying on threededicated prototypes and two helicopter zerointegration test means. The first prototype willpursue its flight test campaign, including its firsthot weather flight tests planned for this summer.The second prototype performed its first power-on 12 June.

Airbus Helicopters focusingon new technologies

Airbus Helicopters showcased several ground-breaking research projects and new helicopter innovations for environment-friendlytechnologies during June at the Paris Air Show.

These projects are part of the company’s mid and long term research and development strategy to provide innovative solutions toreduce operating and maintenance costs whileimproving environmental protection, safety, quality and performance.

The H160 is displayed on Airbus Group’s EcoWay as the rotorcraft will be 15 to 20% moreenergy efficient thanks to Turbomeca’s new generation Arrano engines with reduced fuelconsumption combined with a use of innovativeand lighter materials including composites, andaerodynamics optimization. The CO2 emissionsby H160 will be 20% less per passenger compared to current range.Sound levels will be reduced by up to 50 % compared to the current range and 70% below the regulation.

This is mainly thanks to advanced AirbusHelicopters sound reduction technologies such as the Blue Edge® rotor blades andFenestron®. Airbus Helicopters is testing, insupport of Clean Sky’s Green Rotorcraft initiative, a new kind of High-Compression Piston Engine, able to function with commonlyused fuel kerosene, thanks to a specific injection hardware with the objective to bring benefitssuch as lower fuel consumption, reduction ofemissions, longer range with the same fuel consumption, lower maintenance costs andimproved helicopter performance in hot & high conditions.

NEW HELICOPTEROver two years fromlaunch, Bell sells first 407GT

Bell has confirmed itsmilestone sale anddelivery of the first Bell 407GT to BBM Inc.to operate in the MiddleEast and Africa. The Bell 407GT is thearmed version of theBell 407GX, and will beused to perform a variety of missions including lawenforcement and homeland security.

“We are thrilled to be the launch customer and to introduce the Bell 407GT to the Middle East and Africa,” said Fred Hees, CEO of BBM Inc. “We were veryimpressed by the aircraft’s performance and uniquecapabilities, and are excited to bring this advanced aircraft to our customers in the region to provide a costeffective armed aircraft solution.”

BBM Inc. has purchased 16 Bell 407GXs earlier this year,and has signed a letter of intent for a Bell 505 and a Bell 525 and is focused on providing their customerswith industry-leading products. “Our initial success withthe Bell 407GX has expanded our capability exponentially in the Middle East and African markets,”added Hees.

The Bell 407GT is the armed version of the best-sellingBell 407GX, qualified for a range of weapons from lightmunitions to advanced laser-guided munitions. Security Council secretaries, ministers, presidential aidesand prime ministers responsible for security issues, security service chiefs and other senior security sectorpersonnel, gathered to discuss live issues in national,regional, and international security. Secretary of theRussian Federation’s Security Council Nikolai Patrushevtook part in the meeting.

ORDERSAtlantic Airways toreplace 412s withAW139s

AgustaWestlandannounced at the endof June, that AtlanticAirways has signed acontract for twoAW139 intermediatetwin helicopters.

The aircraft will be used to perform SAR (Search and Rescue) missionsand scheduled passenger transportation within the Faroe Islands. The helicoptersare expected to bedelivered late 2015 and in spring2016 respectively, and will replace two B412s.

This latest contract marks the entrance ofAgustaWestland helicopters into the Faroe Islands andfurther strengthens the already significant presence ofthe AW139 in Northern Europe, where it is used by anumber of government and private customers in manycountries to carry out a range of missions includingpassenger transport, search and rescue, emergencymedical service, offshore transport, law enforcementand military duties.
