Shark BytesNEW IN TOWN: The Threshers will be led by an all-new coaching staff in 2015, with Greg Legg taking over as manager, Rob Ducey as hitting coach, and Steve Schrenk as pitching coach.

Legg joins the Threshers from Lakewood, embarking on his 34th season in the Phillies organization.He previously managed Clearwater in 2005 and 2006.

Ducey served as hitting coach for Reading last year. He spent 13 years as an outfielder in the Majors,and is a member of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. Schrenk, who pitched professionally for 16seasons, will begin his third stint as a pitching coach for the Threshers.

IMHOF IS ON: Southpaw Matt Imhof gets the nod as the Threshers Opening Day starter, making hisFlorida State League debut.

Imhof was drafted in the second round out of Cal Poly last summer, and is ranked the No. 7 prospectin the Phillies organization. He set a program record for Cal Poly last year with 15 strikeouts in agame in early March, and finished seventh in the nation with 124 strikeouts.

ALL IN THE FAMILY: The 2015 Threshers feature three players whose fathers are former Major Leaguers.

Brandon Leibrandt’s father, Charlie, pitched in the big leagues for 14 years with Cincinnati, KansasCity, Atlanta, and Texas, compiling 140 wins and a 3.71 ERA.

Andy Stankiewicz, father of Threshers second baseman Drew Stankiewicz, was an infielder for theYankees, Astros, Expos, and Diamondbacks from 1992 until 1998.

The elder Mark Leiter spent 11 seasons as a Major League hurler, pitching for eight teams includingthe Philadelphia Phillies. He compiled 65 wins and a 4.57 ERA in his career.

TOP TALENT: The Threshers Opening Day roster includes 10 of the Phillies top 30 prospects, according to Baseball America.

No. 6 prospect Aaron Brown and No. 7 prospect Matt Imhof lead the charge, joined by Andrew Knapp(15), Dylan Cozens (16), Zach Green (18), and Willians Astudillo (28).

Top prospect JP Crawford will begin the season on Clearwater’s DL, as will Yoel Mecias (9) and Victor Arano (23). No. 8 prospect Jesmuel Valentin is listed on the team’s restricted list.
