Stephen Gonsalves wasnt quite a sharp as he was in August and struggled with his pitch count and command, walking four and lasting just three innings after throwing 79 pitches. The lefty limited the damage on the scoreboard to just two runs on two hits and struck out five. Todd Van Steensel, Randy Rosario and Raul Fernandez combined for a six inning shutout in relief to pick up the slack on the mound. Van Steensel threw three innings and allowed three hits but no runs while Rosario and Fernandez threw hitless outings. Zach Granite and Stuart Turner led the way for the offense with two hits and a run scored each. Granite also drove in a run. Zach the Flash Granite: Zach Granite stole his 54 th base of the season Tuesday which moved the speedster into sole possession of 4 th in the Lookouts single season record book. He passed with Dwight Taylor (1982) and Wally Dashiell (1929) for fifth last weekend and now edged by Dee Gordon for fourth (53, 2010). Arizona Fall League: The Lookouts will have three players from the 2016 representing them in the Arizona Fall League as C Mitch Garver, LHP Mason Melotakis and RHP Randy Rosario were all selected to play in the fall set of games. Heating Up: Edgar Corcino has caught fire in his last 10 games entering the series, hitting .385 (15-for-39) with seven runs scored and 14 driven in. August Wrap Up: Zach Granite, Stuart Turner and TJ White all finished with .300 batting averages or higher in August with Granite at .316 with 20 runs scored, 14 driven in and 15 bases stolen. Turner hit 303 in 21 games, driving in 12 and scoring seven times, while White hit exactly .300 through 19 games. Hey Now, You’re an All-Star: Zach Granite and Daniel Palka were selected as post- season all stars in the Southern League as announced by the league Tuesday. Granite is currently the leader for the league batting title and remains in the top three in several offensive and defensive categories, while hitting .321 in the second half to lead a Lookouts offense depleted by call-ups. Palka left the Southern League two weeks into the second half but hit 21 homers with 65 RBI with the Lookouts through July 7 to earn the honor. Last Time Out: The Lookouts snuck out a 3-2 win over the Jackson Generals in the opener of the final regular season series of 2016. Stephen Gonsalves wasn’t quite a sharp as he was in August and struggled with his pitch count and command, walking four and lasting just three innings after throwing 79 pitches. The lefty limited the damage on the scoreboard to just two runs on two hits and struck out five. Todd Van Steensel, Randy Rosario and Raul Fernandez combined for a six inning shutout in relief to pick up the slack on the mound. Van Steensel threw three innings and allowed three hits but no runs while Rosario and Fernandez threw hitless outings.
