PAST TENSE NOTES

Я радаI’m glad.

Я была рада.I was glad.

Я в хорошем ресторане.I’m in a good restaurant.

Вчера я была в хорошем ресторане.Yesterday I was in a restaurant.

Can be used to mean I went to a good restaurant.

У меня есть собака.

У меня была собака.

Dog is subject of the sentence, so the verb is in the feminine form.

Мне скучно. Мне было скучно. This is an impersonal construction, so the verb is neuter.

Мне 14 лет. Мне было 14 лет. This is an impersonal construction, so the verb is neuter.
