BACKGROUND

The Gekko IPJ-C is an innovation developed specifically for the coal industry over a period in excess of

seven years. It is based on many years of successful operation of a very similar unit in the metalliferous

industry. The IPJ-C is a high capacity, low cost coal separation device that efficiently upgrades run-of-

mine coal to meet customer quality requirements. It can effectively process coal in the size range 30 x

0.075mm with high unit throughput capacity.

The IPJ-C does not use dense medium or any other form of consumable other than power and water.

The InLine Pressure Jig Coal Separator (IPJ-C) has been successfully tested using Australian coals

from the Hunter Valley and the Bowen Basin. Two sets of tests have been conducted: one using

600mm unit and one using a 1000mm diameter unit. Good results were obtained in both sets of tests,

with separating efficiency increasing considerably at the larger scale.
