Catheter Patency Device

A Revolutionary Method of Re-establishing Patency

The Fibrex® Catheter Patency Device is a revolutionary development in re-establishing patency

of non-functioning central venous catheters. Fibrex® offers an efficient, minimally invasive method

of mechanically disrupting fibrin formation from the interior and exterior of indwelling catheters,

without the risks associated with femoral punctures, or sepsis related to catheter exchange.

This State-of-the-Art device utilizes a tri-axial delivery system consisting of a delivery catheter,

an inner guide structure, and a shaped memory, helical-formed, nitinol stripping coil actuated by

an ergonomic deployment control handle.

The Fibrex® Catheter Patency Device is manually inserted through the luer connector of a

vascular access catheter, exiting via the distal lumen end-hole. The nitinol stripping coil deploys

around the distal exterior of the central venous line. The coil is manually actuated to achieve a

“corkscrew effect” thereby mechanically stripping the catheter of fibrinous film.

Fast and EffectiveFibrex® safely restores and maintains dialysis catheter patency by removing fibrin from the

interior and exterior of indwelling dialysis catheters:

❙◗ Results are immediate and conclusive, unlike thrombolytic therapy options.

❙◗ Procedure time is reduced when compared with more time intensive and invasive options

such as Catheter Exchange and Percutaneous Fibrin Sheath Stripping (PFSS).

Minimally Invasive❙◗ Fibrex® is inserted through the dialysis catheter connector hub, eliminating the need for

femoral punctures and avoiding the associated complications consistent with traditional fibrin

sheath stripping.

❙◗ Fibrex® obviates the need for Catheter Exchange and eliminates associated patient trauma

and potential complications related to sepsis.

EconomicalFibrex® restores and maintains dialysis catheter patency - this results in savings by eliminating

the costs associated with Catheter Exchange:

❙◗ Cost of new dialysis catheter

❙◗ Cost to disrupt existing fibrin sheath

❙◗ Cost of additional procedure time and fluoroscopy

Ease of UseFibrex® is a safe, quick and simple means of effectively disrupting fibrin formation from dialysis

catheters:

❙◗ Hydrophilic coated catheter tracks easily through the dialysis catheter lumen.

❙◗ Radiopaque markers enhance fluoroscopic visualization and allow precise catheter

placement.

❙◗ Ergonomic handpiece facilitates stripping coil actuation.

P.S.S. Prostate Seeding Needles

For use with free seeds and spacers.

The P.S.S. Prostate Seeding Sets are high quality, disposable needles

used to facilitate transperineal, radioactive seed implant procedures.

Each needle has an exceptionally sharp point for easy insertion, and an

echogenic tip for easy visualization under ultrasound guidance.

❙◗ Numerically ordered centimeter markings on the outer

cannula serve as reference points during needle manipulation.

❙◗ One-half centimeter wide marks on the inner stylet, one-half

centimeter apart, indicate the number of seeds in the needle

after loading, whether you use free seeds/spacers or

RAPID Strand™.

❙◗ Two needle styles are available; 5005 provides a more rigid

needle cannula and better “trackability”, 5006 is a more flexible

needle and provides better “steerability”.

❙◗ 5005 needles are compatible with the EXPRESS Seeding

Cartridge.

❙◗ Each needle has an echogenic tip for accurate placement

under ultrasound guidance.

RAPID Strand™ is a trademark of Medi-Physics, Inc., Amersham Healthcare.

Prostate Stabilization Needles

Improved radioactive implant distribution byimmobilizing the prostate gland duringtransperineal “seeding” procedures.

A unique, patented device designed to prevent movement of the

prostate gland while either applicator-compatible or pre-loaded seeding

needles are being inserted. Immobilization is achieved by deploying a

side barb in the prostate tissue and securing a locking spring against

the proximal side of the needle template. The needles must be used in

sets of two for proper stabilization.

❙◗ Two-part hub design separates, locking the side barb in position.

Unlocking is accomplished by pushing the two-part hub back

together.

❙◗ The narrow side of the white, teardrop shaped hub indicates

the deployment position of the side barb and the orientation

of the needle point.

❙◗ The needle point is exceptionally sharp, resulting in easy

penetration of the perineum.

❙◗ Each needle has an echogenic tip, promoting accurate

placement under ultrasound.
