Planning for Our Future: Next Steps

Continue to keep up with the progress on the new building plans at www.gpldnewbuilding.org.

By the time this issue of Library Link reaches homes, Geneva Public Library District will have held three community forums to obtain public input on plans for a new library at 210 S. Sixth St. We videotaped each session, and you can watch the forums at gpldnewbuilding.org.

Architects will fi nalize plans for the facility and submit them to the appropriate city agencies for review, including the Historic Preservation Commission, the Plan Commission, and Geneva City Council. The 57,000-square-foot facility will offer community members at all ages and stages of life a library with space for additional technology to learn new skills, expanded collections, more programs, on-site parking, drive-up convenience, and many other resources and services.

The goal is to start construction of a new building in the spring of 2018, with a prospective opening date in mid-year 2019.

Learn more about plans, cost, and amenities of a new library at gpldnewbuilding.org. Contact us anytime at [email protected].
