Starship Air Ambulance Livery
The Starship Hospital is New Zealand’s primary
pediatrics care provider. Situated in Auckland,
however, meant that critical patients from other
parts of the country had to rely on local emergency
transport services to get to Starship.
In 2015 that changed with Starship’s acquisition of a
$4.5 million state of the art plane to be part of the
newly established Starship Air Ambulance service. As
part of Republik’s design team I created the livery
for this aircraft.

SJ Apiaries Identity
SJ Apiaries is a family operated beekeeping company
in the North Island region. They are one of those
businesses that aren’t known to consumers, but
actually are a major supplier of honey to various
well-known brands.
Last year I was approached to create a brand identity
for them that would refl ect their premium product and
quality-fi rst approach.
This is an alternative proposed concept. The idea
was to give prominence to the company’s chief asset:
bees. The swarm would be an excellent communication
device - for example it could be used in ads to
spell things, it could be used to add dimension to
otherwise fl at elements, and would draw attention to
important elements.
Auckland Museum Digital Pitch
As part of a wayfi nding pitch for Auckland Museum,
I created an app that would curate a personalised
experience for each museum visitor. It would also guide
them through it like a GPS, providing either text-based
or pre-recorded narration as they went along.
The app was designed as both an in-situ experience
(through tours, companion apps, navigation, narration,
etc) and also as an at-home reference that would notify
users of upcoming events based on their interests.

13L Cooler Concept
In 2011 I had an opportunity to design a range of
soft coolers for the FLY brand. Prior to this I had
very limited experience with textiles, mostly through
projects where I did illustrations for kids lunch
cooler bags.
The thing that always somewhat bothered me is how
stale the soft cooler designs on the market are. While
there is some variation in shape and material between
brands, in general they all follow the same format -
boxy shape, constrasting materials that are usually
surrounded by piping or mesh, and so on.
I realized is that on a basic level soft coolers aren’t
really different from traditional bags, other than
having insulation. They still need to be convenient
to actually carry and look presentable in public, and
splintered into various categories (hand bag, laptop
bag, backpack, duffel, etc) your ordinary bag is
tailored to a specifi c purpose at a specifi c capacity.
So I decided to apply this kind of thinking to soft
coolers, and create a 13 litre Personal Cooler. At
such a relatively small capacity, carrying a dedicated
cooler just for a small snack for yourself or your
family isn’t really all that convenient when you’re out
and about at an event or a quick trip.

Cerny Vran
The objective of Cerny Vran is to combine illustration
and music together to create a particular style.
Cerny Vran is a [made-up] band from the Czech Republic.
It’s what would happen if a group of terrible musicians
were into the mythology of metal, but all they had were
vintage synthesizers. Why Czech? Just so I can say
“czech out my band” really, but also because you really
need an unusual band name to stand out from the crowd
these days.
As part of this project I also designed the Cerny title
font. It’s based on old soviet propaganda posters.

Innovation Index of New Zealand
During my time at Ogilvy I had a chance to design the
2012 edition of the Innovation Index of New Zealand.
Every few years The University of Auckland, in
partnership with IBM, releases an Innovation Index – a
publication that documents and quantifi es innovation
in all industries across New Zealand. It goes to all
prominent fi gures - from CEO’s to thought leaders and
even the prime minister.

Samsung TV Apps Landing Page Template
During my time at Republik, I re-designed and built
the Content App pages for Samsung NZ. The idea was
to create a bit of a template - something that would
provide structure and improve navigation, while also
acting as a promotional tool. The challenge was not
only in improving user experience, but also integrating
my code within the Samsung architecture.

What is PGA Tour Live?
It is a dedicated golf app that streams the PGA Tour, Champions Tour and web.com Tour
access to two golf channels; PGA Tour Live and World Golf Pass. World Golf Pass streams
Championship.
Both channels feature highlights, magazines shows as well as every round from previous tournaments available on-demand.
Does it cost to download the PGA app?
Yes – A subscription to PGA Tour Live and World Golf Pass through to 31 December 2015 is $199.00 NZD. There is a monthly billing option of $19.90 NZD per month.
Can I access PGA Tour Live on other devices?
Yes, you can watch PGA Tour Live on the web at pgatourlive.com on your PC and Mac devices that feature a web browser and have an internet connection. Android and iOS apps for PGA Tour Live and World Golf Pass are also available and free to download. A compatible broadband connection is required to access PGA Tour Live on any compatible device.
However if you want to watch PGA Tour Live on the big screen of your TV, Samsung is the only TV brand that has the PGA Tour Live app, which means you’re just a few clicks away from watching your golf games on the big screen.
What Samsung Smart TVs is the app compatible with?
The application is available on 2013 and 2014 Smart TVs. We will endeavour to build out to other TV models through the year. A comprehensive list of compatible apps is available here.
Is there a subscription charge for the PGA app?
Are there internet costs for accessing the PGA Tour Live app?
Charges will be incurred by your Internet Service provider (ISP) for broadband usage whilst using the PGA Tour Live app. Contact your ISP provider for any queries relating to your broadband connection or performance.

Samsung Business Landing Page Template
In 2015 I had an opportunity to design a landing
page styled newsletter for Samsung Business, aimed
at educating their local resellers about new products
and offers. Similar things they have done in the past
tended to be dry and very enterprise-like, but I took a
fl ashier, more retail approach. The idea is that if the
resellers, being consumers as well, can be immersed in
the product then their job of selling it becomes easier
as well.
Another notable feature of this project is that despite
this being a web-only newlsetter, I also designed a
system whereas it can also be easily converted into
an A4 print brochure by using CSS print stylesheets.
This not only improves functionality, but reduces
costs since we don’t have to design a print brochure
separately.

Handcraft ed Range Glassware Package
At Premium Corp I had an opportunity to design
packaging for a range of handcrafted glassware
products. At the time I was very interested in
asymetrical package designs and the benefi ts they bring
when merchandised.
This box, for example, has an individual design for
each side which means that a merchandiser can create an
attention-grabbing display simply by rotating them as
they stack. For a brand new product trying to establish
themselves on the market this was a big benefi t.

Ecotech Website Concept
During my time at Republik, I worked on a new global
website for Ecotech. This isn’t the fi nal concept,
but I felt this design was effective in exploring and
evolving the traditional way that websites deliver
their content.
This concept was born out of a single requirement
in the design brief - the desktop version was to
be contained only on one screen - so no scrolling.
Typically, non-scrolling websites tend to have a very
specifi c and arguably outdated look to them. They
follow a very condensed, rigid structure, usually too
small for the modern screen.
I wanted to challenge this, and use this limitation as
a positive. This is how the Interface idea came to be.

Precinct Properties is a large commercial property
development company, owning most of the major downtown
offi ce buildings in both Auckland and Wellington. They
are also responsible for some of the most impressive
commercial spaces being built today, quite literally
shaping both central Auckland and Wellington.
As part of a long-term corporate identity rollout, I
have designed and supervised the development of their
new website. The aim was not only to make it slicker
on the front end, but to also overhaul their back-end
processes as well. Used daily by both their property
developers and investors, this website had to almost be
designed as an interface rather than a traditional site.
