MOZAIC (FZ Jülich) + CARIBIC (MPI­CH Mainz) => IAGOS è Vertical and long distance profiles of trace substances onboard  commercial 

aircraft è MOZAIC: 1994­2001:  ≈ 18000 flights with O3 &  H2O è  2002­2008:  ≈ 13000 additional flights with CO and NOy è CARIBIC started regular flights with Lufthansa Airbus in May 2005 è Up to December 2009  almost 200 flights had been conducted. è System grounded Nov 2009 to Mar 2010 for extension of the equipment and 

required recertification, new inlet system 

è  IAGOS: In­service Aircraft for a Global Observing System è European Research Infrastructure è Preparatory Phase  9/2008 – 8/2012
