Introduction

However, there is no unifying element that would allow without having to search many websites to find all the data collectively, quickly and easily in one place

Currently web portals and web services provide large amounts of information, whether spatial or non-spatial, relevant to tourism that are already available on the web.

A platform for data sharing

• Completely lacking integration platform combining individual services

• This is an area that we focus on currently • European projects (SmOD, SDI4Apps ...) • The aim is to integrate existing services, the

creation of data model for the sharing of heterogeneous data sources and to provide comprehensive information for end users.

EMIRES Final Review Meeting, Brussels, 01.12.2004 4

Single Electronic Tourist Market Place

The current tourist and navigation systems are usually build on centralised database. Such solution could be focused only on navigation, or could be implemented as local or regional solution. Main problem of this approach is, that much information is difficult to collect on a global scale. There is the possible to have central database of roads, but is not possible to collect and mainly updated in global scale information about accommodation, services, events, etc. The only solution is to combine global navigation system with information stored on local and regional servers using principles of Semantic Web. Such technological solution can rapidly increase quality of tourist systems.

Idea is not new

Smart Tourist Data

Combination of existing data resources to provide maximum information for tourism

Existing data resources have various

Providers (voluntaries, state administration, commercial subject)

Scope (provided services, geoinformation)

Coverage (local, regional, national, global)

Formats & services

Smart Tourist Data

Combination of modern spatial data trends (in the background of real applications)

Web services

Semantics & metadata

Linked (Open) Data

SDI building

Sensor data

APIs

Case Study

Map Layers: OpenStreetMap, Nokia maps, ESRI maps, OpenWeatherMap, OpenPisteMap

Map client: Leaflet

Graph library: RGraph

Internal data format: GeoJSON

Case Study – Maps

Case Study – Data

Internal data: Harmonized data from various providers (e.g. web pages of particular resorts, Skimap.org etc.)

APIs: OpenWeatherMap

LOD resources: GeoNames.org, Dbpedia (link & SPARQL endpoint)

Project „Česko jede" www.ceskojede.cz,

Česko jede is forthcoming national project focuses on the comprehensive support cycling and other forms of non-motorized transport and active tourism in the country. Processing understandable and attractive for cyclists with providing clear and quality information for Czech and foreign cyclists (remote, off-road or recreational) Provision of information across all regions of the country not only on the Web

Long distance routes in the Czech Republic - source CDV Praha

CCSS and its role to support the project „Česko jede“

CCSS within this activity, together with its partners to use other technologies gained in projects that are focused on the use of open geographic information through innovative services based on the linked data (Linked Data). The aim is to create a prototype platform and other modules to support the creation of innovative services and applications over geographic data stored in heterogeneous data sources within the Regional Authority and CDV.

Support Portal "Czech goes" accessing spatial information for each? Interconnection of heterogeneous spatial data sources and non-spatial information through the principles of linked open data (Linked Open Data); ? To create sustainable business model for the spatial data infrastructure based on cloud solutions, including ensuring the sustainability of its development and timeliness help end-users;

Objectives

By creating a platform as a unifying element allows all data to find collectively, quickly and easily in one place without having to search on many websites. This integration platform, ensuring a combination of individual services usable for tourism brand new - a higher level of information use. ? It is an area of focus common (CDV + Regional Authority) vision - Smart Tourist Data.

Objectives

The main barrier, the error in the understanding of the problem

• The efforts of local providers "maintain" data on the portal - this limits the ability of efforts to improve the visibility of regional and global service offerings

• Feeling threatened local developers - this way as opposed to the collection of data on a single portal developers to detract from the local area

Who should cooperate

• The public sector, from local to national level

• The operators of services

• IT sector

• Investors

Important question

Are we able run such

project cross boarder, or

better are we able go for

Europa Goes?
