The global economy will face important economic, social and politicalchallenges during 2016, and Mexico is no exception. However, thesecond largest country in Latin America, and the 15th in world, isexpected to grow at about 2.8% during this year after a modest 2015due to the fall of oil prices and production, steep devaluation, andoverall global crosswinds. It is expected that Mexico's recovery willaccompany that of the U.S. economy via exports, the effect of variousstructural reforms, and stronger domestic demand. Advancedmanufacturing is one of the main pillars of the economy, particularlyauto production. By the close of 2015, Mexico is the 7th largest lightvehicle producer and the sector represents 3% of the GDP. Othersectors such as healthcare, retail, financial services, aerospace andenergy will be important growth engines. Along with the opportunitiesbrought by transnational firms, small and medium Mexican companiesstill face important challenges in overall productivity, managementinnovation, supply chain, and technology adoption. Alejandro Preinfalk has a very extensive professionaltrajectory within Siemens. He began his career in CostaRica where he served as Sales Executive and then

assumed further positions in different countries where Siemens is present, suchas Germany, where he worked as a Communication Projects Engineer and inGuatemala, as Project Manager and Division Manager. In 1999, he was transferredto Mexico to perform in similar functions like Communication Projects Engineer,Corporate Accounts Manager, Project Manager; and in 2011, he assumed theposition of Vice President of Digital Factory and Process Industries and DrivesDivisions for Mexico and Central America. Alejandro Preinfalk graduated fromthe University of Costa Rica as an Electrical Engineering with a major inTelecommunications and Electronics. He holds graduate degrees in BusinessAdministration from the Universities of Duke, Babson and Harvard BusinessSchool, as well as Manufacturing studies in Michigan University.
