“The King of Your Heart” John 18:33-38

Jeff Knouse 9:30 a.m. November 21, 2021

Today is Christ the King Sunday, the last Sunday of the church calendar year where we celebrate that Jesus is King over all things.

Jesus uses the phrase, “of your own accord…” And that word accord can be translated as, “an agreement made in the heart.” So really Jesus is ask-ing Pilate this question:

Who is the __________ of your ___________? “As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.” -Proverbs

27:19 NIV Every person’s heart is ____________ by something. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” -Matthew

6:21 Any time that we get _____________, it means that our ______________ is being challenged. Pilate is closing off his heart to Jesus, because if Jesus is King, then Pilate loses _____________. “My kingdom is not of this world,” has multiple meanings

1. Outside of just the worldly realm 2. It’s not like the world

“For this purpose I was born…” The path to the _________ has to go through the ______________. “For this purpose I have come into the world.” Our King’s desire is to ___________ to us, to be ________ us, to ______ us. Jesus is a _____________ King. So here’s my question: Who is the King of your _____________? “Jesus cannot simply be liked—you either must reject Him utterly or

crown Him King of your life.” -Timothy Keller By realizing that Jesus, the King of all Kings, __________ himself, we must in turn empty all the ___________ taking up space in our hearts so that Jesus may take His rightful place as the King of our lives.
