Mrs. Poe

by Lynn Cullen

The triumphant success of Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven”

compels fledgling poet Frances Osgood to meet her literary

idol. Poe, a mysterious, complicated man, soon has Frances

under his spell. Frances fears that deceiving Mrs. Poe, Edgar’s

young frail wife, may prove to be as impossible as cheating

death itself… Mrs. Poe “...escorts you into the glittering world

of New York City in the 1840’s, when poets were celebrities

and the admission of emotions, like silk gowns and glossy

beaver hats, were a luxury. A bewitching trip into the heyday

of American literary society” Oprah.com. You will be dis-

cussing “The Raven” at the meeting (copies will be provided).

Discussion meeting: Friday, October 13th at 9:30 a.m. Glad-

stone Community Center. Registration deadline: October 6th.
