Dates to Remember
Principal’s Message
Dear parents,
Swimming Carnival 2020 - our 2020 carnival was one of our best ever! This year’s carnival was planned by
Mr Ellacott – his first one! We had a very big group of students for the day – but due to Emerton Pool’s huge
undercover areas they were able to be in the shade throughout the day – even when enjoying novelty events.
Mr Ellacott was supported directly by Miss Milledge and on the day by all of the staff present. Thank you to
all of the staff who did such a great job in coordinating and encouraging the students. It was also rewarding
to see the number of parents who came along – well done to all who could join us. Finally – and most
importantly – a huge thank you to the students for their efforts in the competitive races, for their cooperation
and participation in the novelty events and finally for their superb behaviour throughout the day – well done!
SRC Excursion – our 2020 SRC students will be off on their special excursion very soon – they will hear
from some well-known leaders and we wish them all the best, hoping they learn a lot about what makes
outstanding leadership.
Kindergarten Speech – having spoken to many of the kindergarten students I am very concerned about
some of the speech patterns I have heard. The school will be conducting some preliminary speech
screening exercises over the next few weeks and as soon as we know more, we will contact the parents of
students who may need some assistance in this area.
Charities 2020 / 2021 – a special thank you to Mrs Osborne and Miss Milledge who have been working with the SRC to organise our charities into a ‘manageable’ group for the 2020-21 period. There will be one charity activity per term – as follows.

Trend Micro Internet Safety – as happened in 2019, the people from Trend Micro will be visiting us on Thursday March 5 to talk with students in classes 3/4C, 3E and 3R. These are free sessions for the students and we are thankful of the time Trend give to us and look forward to continuing our relationship with them.
Citizenship Program – Miss Leckie and Mrs Herben have been working to ‘revamp’ our Citizenship
Program. They have established a very clear set of activities for the students in Year 6 who are keen to
participate. It will begin with a parent information session on the evening of April 1.
Maths, Students and Parents – Very soon parents will have the chance to watch a display in the foyer
that will focus on maths. You will be able to see the following week’s teaching content, the vocabulary
students need and ideas to use at home. Additionally, the school website will include a link to a ‘maths blog’
that will also enable parents to see the same information on their own devices.
Yours faithfully
D Meaney
Principal.
UNIFORM SHOP
From Monday the 9th of March, a couple of items from the Uniform Shop including red polos, sports polos and two
of the hats will increase in price by $1. This is due to the cost price of the items increasing from our suppliers.
Most of the new stock we have ordered including red polos and dresses have arrived. I am still waiting for caps and
sports shorts which have been delayed due to closures for Chinese New Year.
Another order for senior uniforms will go out mid March, so please look out for it. A note will be given to every child
in Years 5 and 6
Thankyou
Uniform Shop Coordinator

luck at the district carnival!
