At the direction of Central Government, Mid andWest Wales Fire Brigade became Mid and West WalesFire and Rescue Service. Restructuring andrepositioning required a new visual identity scheme toreflect a service that was modern and diverse.Following a lengthy consultaion and design processthe scheme took shape.The squares represent the sixregional centres and allude to the geography of theregion. Following many trials and extensive testing, thered and green was chosen as it was felt important torepresent Wales strongly in the new scheme.

Cambrian Survival started life as Cambrian Schoolof Survival. Following a consultation and testingperiod the name was reformed and a taglinedeveloped.The iconography represents fire, food,shelter and water – the four key needs in a survivalsituation.

The visual scheme was developed to help promotethe accessibility of the courses to people who maybe put off by stereotypes and misconceptions

Mumbles Pier has been a popular visitor attractionsince it was built in 1898.When the development ofthe surrounding site took place to provide all-weather facilities a strong brand image was neededto reflect the modern complex.

The visual material is derived from playful primarycolours, informal typefaces and a family feel.Thelogo, illustrations and colours are used extensivelythroughout the site and help to support a verystrong identity.

Apollo Communications is a specialisttelecommunications service provider operatingthroughout the UK.Their main operations are inthe fixed-line and mobile for business markets.

Apollo compete with other, larger service providers,so a business-centric style was required to becombined with a unique icon that would help todifferentiate them in a crowded marketplace.

As Swansea’s most famous son, Dylan Thomas is theperfect figurehead for a literary award aimed atyoung writers.

Many literary competitions are operatingworldwide; analysis of these was the first part of theproject.The ‘Dylan Thomas’ signature is a strongmark with brand equity and was a candidate for useright from the start of the design process.The logo’sform alludes to literature and the colours are brightyet formal.

The use of a stylised initial ‘V’ on a buttondemonstrated the activity of the company.The namewas split to facilitate the emphasis of the highquality products and services.The colour palettegives a fresh look to the company. Reflecting the change in their processes,Aman MetalSpinners changed their name to AMS MetalProducts.This change demanded a new look andpositioning for the company.

This client’s product is an electrical switch usuallyhidden by a ceramic tile.The switches are triggered bythe proximity of the user’s hand.

With a target market of trendy homeowners mainly inthe South East, Easy Switch needed a mark thatprojected style and sophistication.Along with thecolours and typography, a descriptive icon wasdeveloped that hinted at the operation of the product.A tagline verbally supports the product’s value.

Penrhiw Farm is a small family run businesssupplying high quality organic meat products directlyto the public and to supermarket chains.

A visual identity was required that would raise thevisibility of the products on the shelves whilst at thesame time promoting the natural values of thebusiness. Penrhiw is Welsh for ‘top of the hill’ andthis is reflected in the stylised drawn graphic.
