GNIMITES E-Newsletter Volume 7, Issue No. 4, April 2018 HAPPY BAISAKHI CAPSTONE PROJECT: PGDM Capstone Project Presentation Evaluations were held on Sunday, April 1, 2018 from 9.30 am till 1.30 pm at G. N. Khalsa College Seminar Hall. Mr. Ajit Joshi, National Alliance Manager -- Distribution and Strategic Partners at Red Hat India and Mr. Paresh Parmar, An Innovator and an Outdoor Educational Scientist from Indian Odyssey were the evaluators for the Project. Second Year PGDM Students were divided into 10 groups and they presented their business plans as an aggregator for the following unconventional Industries. The students were given the option to choose their project Guides to help them out: 1. Honey (Organic Foods) – Guided by Prof. Sameer Salunkhe. 2. Toy - Guided by Prof. Rajesh Nambiar. 3. Chocolate - Guided by Prof. Arun Singh Rathore. 4. Ceramics - Guided by Prof. Sameer Phanse. 5. Event Management - Guided by Prof. Annie Pillai. 6. Educational Trips - Guided by Prof. Sameer Charania. 7. Poultry - Guided by Dr. Rahul Shah. 8. Worship Material - Guided by Prof. Balvinder Singh. 9. Ice Cream - Guided by Prof. Bins Mathew. 10. Real Estate - Guided by Prof. Ritu Tuli. Toy Industry Group was declared as the winner of the “Best Capstone Project Award 2018”. Worship Material, Event Management and Honey (Organic Foods) were appreciated for their presentation s and Poultry Industry Group was asked to rework their presentation. Overall the students were exposed to some strict evaluations. It was suggested by the panelists that more of such projects and evaluations should be given to the first-year students.

CONVOCATION:

The Annual Convocation was held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 in the G. N. Khalsa College Multi-Purpose Hall from 3.00 pm onwards. Dr. Vijay Khole, Former VC, University of Mumbai and Mr. Abhishek Pange, Associate Director Marketing and PR – NBA INDIA Pvt. Ltd. were the Chief Guest of the Convocation Ceremony.

Mr. Abhishek Pange was the recipient of “GNIMS Award for Professional Excellence 2018”.

Examinations:

Exams were conducted for Full Time (MMS) Semester IV (CBSGS) from April 8, 2018. Full Time Semester II April 16-28, 2018.

Part-time Courses, (MFM / MMM / MHRDM) Semester VI from April 8, 2018 and April 15, 2018; Semester IV on April 15, 21, 22, 28 1nd 29, 2018. Semester II from April 28 till May 13, 2018.

PGDM Trimester III from April 16 – 26, 2018. PGDM Semester VI from April 21 – 22, 2018.

Promotional Activities: GNIMS Staff and Students visited various Gurudwara’s to promote our Institute. Baishaki Celebration at Garodia Nagar, Ghatkopar was the venue for the promotional activity, on April 14, 2017 and Kharghar Gurudwara on April 15, 2018.

Fare well: Part-Time Students (2015-2018 Batch) were given a warm farewell on Sunday, April 15, 2018 in the G. N. Khalsa College Seminar Hall. Dr. D. Y. Patil gave a motivating farewell speech to the students and The Class Representatives of all the courses (MMM / MHRDM / MFM) were given a token of appreciation and the Best Students Project from each course were also awarded with medals. Best Library Users were given a token of appreciation by the GNIMS Library. Mr. Murtuza Kanorewal (MFM); Ms. Jyotsna Sakpal (MMM) and Mr. Joginder Singh (MHRDM) were the recipient of the Best Library User Award. All the outgoing students were presented with a gift as a token of remembrance. Lunch was provided to all. Group Photo of the students was also taken along with all their faculties.

WORLD BOOK DAY AND COPYRIGHT DAY: Prof. Kuljeet G. Kahlon and Ms. Neeta Malik attended the round table discussion on “Ways to Promote Unused Print Collection”, organized by BKC Knowledge Network and Nehru Centre Library., on April 23, 2018. The objective of the discussion was to share stories on how different libraries encourage reading. There was also a presentation by the Open Library Project, started by Mumbai Entrepreneur Satyajit Roy and Ruchita Sharma. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Maya Avasia, Head Librarian, Asiatic Society of Mumbai. This was a great learning experience for us.

NAAD YOG MUSIC FOR DEEP RELAXATION - Examinations and stress, both are an inevitable part of life. Precisely, GNIMS thought about having a session for Full Time Management Students with the objective of deep relaxation for all. Prof. Suchita Shetty organized a Yoga Session for the Students. DIYA Mumbai team was invited to conduct a session on April 27, 2018 from 03.00 pm to 5.00 pm. The Session was facilitated by Snigdha Srivastave who asked the students expectations on a whiteboard and gave an overview of the workshop. Mr. Jateen Dave shared few simple techniques of relaxation. A guided meditation followed by musical meditation helped the participants to relax and rejuvenate for the upcoming Summer Internships from May 2, 2018. Students enjoyed the session and relaxed in true sense and realized that simple relaxation techniques will go a long way in helping them to deal with stress. It was indeed a very relaxing and refreshing experience.

GNIMS EMPLOYEES CO-OP Society Ltd.

The first employee’s engagement by GNIMS Employees Co-Op Society Ltd. took place on April 30, 2018 at Shangri-La Resorts. This was the first outing organized by the society and was the most enjoyable. We hope that this will be annual event by the society.
