CONSTRUCTION NOTES • Heat: The temperature varies throughout the building. Please dress accordingly.

• Temporary Main Entrance: now located on the South side of the building (Fellowship Hall doors).

• Ramp: Though we will not have an elevator until our project is completed, a ramp is available on the west side of the building. If you or someone you know could use assistance, please call ahead (376-5264). Thank you for your patience.

• Please Help: As access to our facility becomes more challenging for some of our fellow worshippers during our construction project, members of American Lutheran are asked to help welcome and assist however possible. If you can volunteer to be available before and/or after either worship service near one of the entrances, please call the church.

• As the project continues, more construction trailers will be parked in our lots as far from the church as possible but they will take up some parking spots.

• Project is currently on schedule.

• Important Dates…

• January 7, 2019: Begin sanctuary renovations

• April 12, 2019: Estimated completion date.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

In 2017, there were 24 people killed in Minnesota as a result of domestic violence. Abuse is never okay. We can all do our part in helping to support survivors and end domestic violence. It’s a great time to learn more about this issue and how you can get help for yourself or for someone you know and love. The most helpful thing to do for someone is to tell them the abuse is not their fault, and listen to them without being judgmental.

These are a few ways an abusive person uses to control another person. An abuser may:

• shame or embarrass their partner by put-downs • show jealous or aggressive behavior • control their partner in every aspect of their life • intimidate with force or the use of guns

The Southwest Crisis Center’s mission is to end domestic and sexual violence and exploitation of all people. They seek to empower and support survivors’ safety, healing, rights, and autonomy.

If you are abused or know of someone who is, you can call the Southwest Crisis Center at: 1-800-376-4311 or check them out on online: Facebook-@SouthwestCrisisCenter; Instagram- @southwestcrisiscenter; or their website: www.mnswcc.org.

Thankoffering Envelopes can be placed in the offering plate for the first three weeks of October. Thanks! — Nancy Marco and Megan Prins

Opportunities for Involvement and Service

Bell Ringers needed for our bell choir. Practices are Tuesday evenings at 7:00. All are welcome. Contact Pam @ 507-376-5682 for more details.

Stewardship Corner — While opportunities to use our gifts seem almost limitless, we must be willing to make ourselves available. Often our tendency is to look at our shortcomings rather than to focus on Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Him Who gives me strength.” As stewards we are to use our gifts gladly and wholeheartedly in service to God alone.

Applications for the Worthington Workcamp Our work to make the Worthington Workcamp next July 7-13 the best ever rolls on! Resident applications are being distributed throughout the community with the help of our CORE volunteer team and are available at many places including Love INC, the food pantries along with many local churches, as well as our Facebook page – Worthington MN Work Camp 2019. We are truly blessed as almost 400 youth and their adult chaperones have already signed to come to our community to do the needed work and take part in this life changing event! If you are in need or know of someone in need of home repair/improvement, please fill out an application to have your project considered to be one of the 60 projects to be selected for completion. Applications can be found on the wood bench by the Fellowship Hall door.
