Our annual multicultural night will include performances from Roy Gomm students and The Anouaze Beat, a West African drum and dance group brought to us by the Pioneer Center Youth Programs (PCYP). Our MC will be Reno High School principal, Kris Hackbusch.
Students and teachers will be invited to participate in singing and playing traditional African instruments like the djmbe, dundun, kenkeni, sanban, and sege sege. This will be an unforgettable experience for all ages.
Student art from each class showcasing various cultures around the world will be on display. Refreshments will be provided.
We will be collecting change for Heifer International, a group whose mission is to end world hunger and poverty while caring for the earth. To learn more about Heifer International, please visit their website: www.heifer.org
Multicultural Night Chair: Christina Jackson

Two parent informational meetings for this month (April 14th in the pm & April 15th in the am). Parents were informed of the proposed uniform renewal for the upcoming school year. The uniform would essentially stay the same, with red or navy blue polos for tops and khaki or black for bottoms. Look for ballots to be mailed to current K‐5th grade Gomm households soon and will include the complete uniform description. Please return these ballots which includes a box for “YES” or “NO” vote. Literacy Night
Blood Drive Another Success! United Blood Services and Roy Gomm PFA would like to extend their gratitude to all of our brave blood donors. You made time in your busy schedule to help save a life in our community and you are so appreciated! A record number of people turned out to donate 23 units of blood which could potentially help 63 people or patients!
Blood Drive Young Poets
Gomm Students Win Astro Poetry Contest Three students from Mrs. Early’s third grade class swept the top three places in the Astro Poetry contest, which was held in conjunction with National Poetry Month and Global Astronomy Month. Elise Evans took first place and won a Celestron Telescope. Kate Landon took second place and won binoculars. Cole Cochran took third place and won two tickets to Tahoe Star Tours. The three Gomm students swept their division for grades 3 through 6 which had a total of 186 entries. The three winners were recognized at an awards ceremony at the Discover Museum. Great job Elise, Kate, and Cole!
Uniform Update
Another great Literacy Night event is ‘in the books’…pun intended! There were so many great skits and readings as well as free books and snacks. A big thanks to Nanda Reddy and her volunteers for chairing another fun‐filled night for our kids!
