I would like to welcome each and every grade 8 to Midstream

College. I want to congratulate you and your parents on your

good choice. I hope the next five years will be the best of your

life. Enjoy the first three weeks during which you will earn the

right to wear your Midstream College uniform with pride.

Midstream College is trots om julle as ons dertiende

graadagtgroep te verwelkom. Die graadtwaalfs en die prefekte

sien daarna uit om julle welkom te laat voel. Die College het die

eerste 12 jaar reeds baie vermag en ons hoop om hierop voort te

bou. Ek wil elkeen van julle uitdaag om soos die Latynse

spreukwoord – Carpe diem, elke geleentheid met albei hande aan

te gryp wat hom by Midstream voordoen.

Welcome to the Midstream family. Being part of this family

means to put Midstream first in everything you do for the next

five years. As prefect group we are here to support you and help

you to adapt to being a member of our family. Keep in mind you

are the younger sibling and therefore everything will not always

go your way in the coming year.

Thank you for signing up to the Brick Army. We can assure you

that the next three weeks are going to be memorable weeks.

Work with your captains, and you will ease into high school.

Ons hoofdoel as julle kapteine is nie om julle klein te laat voel

nie, maar om julle as graad saam te vorm, sodat julle die beste

troepe kan wees wat Midstream nog gehad het. In hierdie

weermag het ons vyf waardes naamlik respek, lojalitiet,

communio, integriteit en excellentia. Sodra jy na hierdie

waardes streef sal jy eindelik uit die weermag bevorder word na

‘n volwaardige Midstream College-leerder. Ons is hier om julle

vir jul toekoms saam met julle mede-Midstreamers voor te berei.

Oriëntering / Orientation

Ons doel is dat leerders betrokke en lojaal teenoor die skool sal wees.

Elke graadagt-baksteen moet tot ‘n magtige muur van leerders

saamgebind word wat alles wat goed en reg is, sal kan beskerm.

Die graadagts staan as “bakstene” bekend.

Die matrieks staan as “kaptein” bekend.

Jou hoofleiers staan as “general” bekend.

Our aim is for learners to become involved and loyal members of the

school. Each brick should be cemented into a mighty wall of learners

who strive to protect and uphold everything which is fair and just.

The Grade 8s are known as “bricks”.

The matrics are known as “Captain”.

Your head leaders are known as “General”.

Kleredrag / Dress Code

Ons versoek ons graadagts om tot Donderdag, 31 Januarie, hul

LO– of huisdrag te dra. Dit gee ons ouers en leerders die geleentheid

om die korrekte skooldrag aan te skaf en dit skep opwinding om hul

skooldrag met trots te dra.

Grade 8 learners are requested to wear their LO or house clothes

until Thursday, 31 January. This offers parents the opportunity of

purchasing the correct school uniform. This also creates excitement

amongst learners to wear their new school uniform with pride.

Reëls / Rules

1. Alle skoolreëls geld ten alle tye.

2. Show respect to all fellow learners by greeting them.

3. Staan op en groet as ‘n onderwyser of matrikulant

verbyloop of in ‘n klas instap.

4. Name boards/tags should be worn at all times.

5. Geen graadagt mag oor die aantreeblad loop nie.

6. You may not use the staircase next to the media.

7. Die matriekgrasperk rondom die media is verbode.

8. Grade 8 learners are responsible for cleaning up

after all sport events.

9. Klim laaste op busse en neem sitplekke voor in.

10. Deelname aan skoolaktiwiteite word aangemoedig. .

• Sommige tuissportbyeenkomste is verpligtend vir

graadagts en sal aan hulle gekommunikeer word.

• Roll call will be taken at compulsory events.

• Slegs skriftelike verskonings wat deur graadhoofde

geteken is, sal aanvaar word.
