Master of Construction Management

The MCM program – a minimum of thirty (30) units of study. Total units may depend on the student’s undergraduate

degree and work experience. Prerequisite course work may be required as a condition of

admission to this graduate program.

Students with a construction management/engineering/science degree or equivalent may be admitted at the start of any semester. Students who do not possess the above undergraduate

degree or equivalent may be required to complete leveling courses before registering for additional courses.

For students who wish to broaden their education at the graduate level, the Sever Institute offers a Joint Degree program with the School of Architecture.

The Master of Construction Management/Master of Architecture (MCM/M.Arch) joint degree program prepares architectural students for more intense roles within the design/construction process.

Joint Degree Program

Students can earn a Master of Architecture (M.Arch) and a Master of Construction Management (MCM) degree in considerably less time than one would need to pursue each degree separately.

School of Architecture accepts 9 credit units earned in SEAS toward the M.Arch degree.

SEAS accepts 9 credit units earned in Architecture toward the MCM degree.

Applicants must gain admission to each program independently. Applicants must submit two distinct applications

School of Architecture School of Engineering and Applied Science

(SEAS).

The applications will be assessed separately by each school’s admissions committee.

Students already admitted to the School of Architecture are encouraged to consider pursuing graduate studies in construction management however; they must apply to SEAS prior to completing the requirements for the M.Arch degree.

The Graduate Certificate in Construction Management (GCCM) is a 15-hour course of study designed to provide a focused, intensive study of critical issues within construction management.

The courses provide thorough background in: construction operations, cost and time management, legal aspects, construction finance and accounting, and quality.
