Graduating high school is an exciting time, but it is also time to take charge of your health. Talk to your doctor about getting these vaccines today! Flu 1 dose every year Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough) tet·nuhs, dif·theer·ee·uh 1 dose Even if you’re healthy, flu vaccine is very important. The flu is not a cold. It can send even healthy teens to the hospital; some may even die from flu. The flu vaccine is the best way to lower your chances of getting flu and spreading it to friends and family. Meningococcal meh•ninja•cah•cal 2 vaccines types ACWY - 1 dose after 16 years type B - at least 2 doses Meningococcal disease is spread by kissing, sharing drinks, or by having close contact with others. This disease can be deadly and could cause you to lose an arm or leg, have hearing loss, or suffer brain damage. The shots can protect you from several types of this serious infection. College students living in campus housing are also at higher risk for this disease. Make sure you ask your doctor about the two different meningococcal vaccines! Tdap protects against 3 diseases, including whooping cough, a disease that can lead to really bad coughing for weeks or even months. Some people may even break their ribs from coughing too hard! You may have already received this vaccine before. Check with your doc! Did you know that more than half of all men and women will catch HPV at some point in their life? This vaccine series can protect guys and girls from common types of HPV known to cause warts on the penis, vagina, and other genital areas as well as cancer of the throat and mouth, cervix (opening to the uterus), vagina, vulva, penis, and anus later in life. Las Vacunas

Muchas universidades requieren vacunas, incluyendo la vacuna contra la hepatitis B y la MMR (sarampión, paperas y rubéola). La graduación de preparatoria es un tiempo emocionante, pero también es el momento de hacerte

cargo de tu salud. ¡Habla con tu doctor acerca de estas vacunas hoy mismo!

Influenza (Gripe)1 dosis cada año

Qué se significa para ti Tdap te protege contra 3 enfermedades, incluyendo la tos ferina, una enfermedad que puede provocar una tos muy fuerte durante semanas o hasta meses. ¡Algunas personas hasta se rompen las costillas por toser tan fuerte! Es posible que ya te hayas puesto esta vacuna. ¡Pregúntale a tu doctor!

La meningitis se contagia al besar, compartir bebidas o por tener contacto estrecho con otras personas. Esta enfermedad puede ser mortal y podría hacer que pierdas un brazo o una pierna, experi-mentes pérdida de la audición o sufras daño cerebral. La vacuna puede protegerte de varios tipos de esta infección grave. Los estudiantes universitarios que viven en dormitorios también están en mayor riesgo de contraer esta enfermedad. ¡Asegúrate de preguntarle a tu doctor sobre los dos tipos de esta vacuna!

Aunque estés sano(a), la vacuna contra la influenza es muy importante. La influenza no es un resfriado. Es tan grave que manda a jóvenes sanos al hospital; algunos incluso pueden morir por la influenza. La vacuna contra la influenza es la mejor manera de disminuir tus probabilidades de contraer la enfermedad y contagiar a tus amigos y familiares.

¿Sabías que más de la mitad de los hombres y mujeres serán infectados por el VPH en algún momento de sus vidas? Esta serie de vacunas puede proteger a los jóvenes de los tipos comunes de VPH que pueden causar verrugas en el pene y la vagina y el cáncer cervical y cánceres de ano, pene, vagina, vulva, boca y garganta en el futuro. La serie toma por lo menos 6 meses para completar, ¡así que empieza ahora!
