I am thankful to the Lord for bringing me to New Life Children Home, before i came here i was working in a house, there they used to ill treat me and beat me, i had a younger brother and we both used to stay in a dark room, sometimes we used to go to sleep with food, I used to do all the house work and even cook the food, but they used to beat me with sticks, pipes, and utensils. one day a man came into the house and seen my condition and took me away from there, He brought me to New Life Children Home, at first I thought he has brought me to a different place to work but then i seen so many children here like me they have also had bad times, our PAPA here was a very tall man i have not seen tall people before, he was very kind to me and my brother, he gave us clothes, and toothbrush, soap and he used to give my little brother a bath because he used to have a lot of wounds, he used to bandage the wounds, we were also give a bed to sleep and a blanket, it was the first time that I ever slept in a bed, and I have always used to sleep on the floor and covered myself with a rice bag even when it was very cold, here at New Life Children Home, I have come to know that I do not have to work to get my food, but still after all that PAPA has done for me I feel very obliged to return the favor like other children we try our best to help our PAPA, we help in the garden to grow vegetables, we help keep the campus clean, we also help PAPA take care of the small children by teaching them how to take a bath and brush their teeth, PAPA has put us all in teams and we have to look out for our team members, if they doing anything wrong we should tell them not to do it. I am very happy that here I have also come to know about Jesus, and that because Jesus loves our PAPA he shares that love with us and that is why Jesus blesses him more, I have learnt alot from my PAPA even though he is not my real father he has done more than what anyone has done for me and my brother. When i grow up i want to earn a lot of money so that I can help my PAPA with his work. I am so happy that Jesus has brought me here, I have not fallen sick in the past year, I am studing in an Eng-lish Medium School, and I can speak English also, but just a little, I am trying hard in school to get good marks. I pray every day for all those who support my PAPA financially and blessing him to bless us.

For a boy from the remote village in Manipur, coming to New Life Children Home was filled with mixed feelings. He was not sure what to expect out of it all, compared to his lifestyle in Manipur where he used to take care of his brothers children and do most of the house work, this life changing moment is above par.

Benjamin is always in smiles and never lets one down when is requested to sing one of his com-posed tunes. He has an inclination towards being like David, most of the times you would see him strumming his guitar humming to the tunes of songs he has heard and trying to personalize them to suit his own comfort. over the past year Benjamin has composed three songs which you can find on our yourtube page.

Benjamin aims to become an astro-naut and is studying very hard to achieve his dream. He loves foot-ball and Singing and leads worshp at the children church and during daily devotionals.

He is the head Boy at New Life Academy and stives hard to ensure that he is disiplined before he dis-iplines others. like other boys he helps around in the day to day activities of the home, taking care of his teams needs and ensuring that they are responsive to his call.

Benjamin thanks his sponsors and prays for him every day...

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much”

➲ H e l e n K e l l e r

In todays environment of compe-tition there are always a few slack-ers who tend not to make that effort individually, however when they are grouped they try to bring out their best and overdo what is needed of them, such is that of the three muskeeters of New Life Children Home Silas, Ephemie and Gladwin, known for all their mis-chievous craft, it surprised the lot at the VBS session in March 2014 when they bagged the first prize in a group competition, such is the unity of togetherness.

We at New Life believe that just like we have to teach chil-dren good manners and polite-ness they have to learn about team work and how effective team can collaborate to ensure success, where it takes 1 boy to

water a patch of vegetable almost 20 mins there three boys can com-plete it in 3 mins. Teamwork is an ongoing skill set and it varies from age to activities. We have noticed that children who partake in team building activities develop a greater sense of competency, not only are they learning to work as a team they are learning to actively listen and respond in an effective way.

Older children learn that in order to make teamwork effec-tive, they can’t attempt to do everything or do nothing-- it’s a group effort. Even preschoolers playing the parachute game or Ring Around the Rosey are learn-ing the value of cooperative team-work. The parachute only makes a mushroom if everyone follows the instructions, and kids quickly learn that Ring Around the Rosey isn’t much fun if one person ran-domly decides to fall down in giggles before the rest of the group.

From Here in 2010 To Here in 2013

Faith is trusting in

God. Lack of faith is doubing

God.

N E W H O R I Z I O N S A LESSON IN FAITH

Several years ago when New Life had its humble beginings much was needed to ensure the sustainability of this ministry. Our faith was the ultimate key that we had which ensured that the Lord provided for our needs, even though they were small we always looked to HIM and was provided; today this FAITH has seen the Lords hands in all that we do, Here is a brief overview of what faith can do. Faith is trusting in God, and Lack of Faith is doubting God.

In Mark 9, there was a boy that had an unclean spirit, such a strong unclean spirit that even Jesus’ dis-ciples couldn’t cast him out. They were regular deliverance pastors going about casting out demons on regular bases, but for some reason, when they reached this case, they were unable to cast it out:

Mark 9:17-18, “And one of the mul-titude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.”

Now Jesus had given His disciples authority over all powers of the enemy, so they clearly did not lack authority to drive out that unclean spirit:

Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scor-pions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

So what did these disciples lack? Clearly they didn’t lack authority! What they lacked was faith in their authority:

Mark 9:19, “He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.”

Now in Matthew 17, this story is also told, and when they asked Jesus why they were unable to cast out the spirit, He told them flat out... they lacked faith!

Matthew 17:19-20, “Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And

Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”

We need to stop wavering and start taking God for His Word and lay hold of His promises! If He said we shall cast out demons, then it means He’s given us the ability to drive out those evil spirits! If He’s said we have a right to be healed in Jesus’ name, then we have that right, and we ought to start trusting Him and believing it!

Christian faith is basically taking God for His Word and believing the prom-ises He’s made.

There are three main elements con-cerning Bible faith and when these three are put together we can operate in a mamoth strenght of faith, Faith that moves mountains.

Faith key #1: Knowledge brings faith

Knowledge of the truth (in God’s Word) brings faith. Faith is believing something, thus requiring some-thing to believe. The new age move-ment believes that we can ‘believe things into existence’, which is not the same kind of faith that us believ-ers should have. Our faith is based upon the truth in God’s Word. Thus, knowing what God’s Word has to say about something gives us the ability to believe it. Our faith should be based upon God’s Word.

Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

For example, how can you have faith to pray for a healing, believing that He will heal you, if you didn’t know it was God’s will for your healing?

This is why Satan works so hard to tell the church today that it may not be God’s will for them to be healed! Why? Because it casts doubt, the opposite of faith, upon the hearts of God’s children! How can you lay hold of the promises of God, if you don’t know what they are? We must first know the truth, then believe it. That’s Biblical faith!

Mark 9:23, “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are pos-sible to him that believeth.”

In the verse above, the word believeth means to trust. Jesus was in essence telling His disciples that all things (referring to the promises of God) are possible for them who will trust God for them (believe). How can you believe something that nobody told you? You can’t. That’s why it’s impor-tant to know what the Word of God has to say, so that we can believe it. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing

Page 10: Grassroots 2014

10 O v e r v i e w

N e w L i f e | G r a s s r o o t s - A p r i l 2 0 1 4

and hearing God’s Word:

Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Faith key #2: Faith and a pure conscience

One time the Lord spoke to me about the connection between a clean conscience and faith. He told me clearly that you must KNOW you are clean spiritually, because your faith depends on it. How can you confi-dently approach God, when your conscience is dirty? The truth is, you can’t!

Hebrews 10:22, “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.”

We need to have a true heart of full assurance of faith and washed clean

from an evil conscience.

If you struggle with a guilty con-science, then you owe it to yourself to read the teaching on Dealing with Guilt.

Faith key #3: Faith works through love

The third key to operating in faith is to be rooted and grounded in love so that your faith will operate through love. The Bible tells us clearly that all believers should be rooted and grounded in the love of Christ, if we want to experience the fullness of God, who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. When we are grounded in the love of Christ,

Ephesians 3:16-20, “That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts

by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, accord-ing to the power that worketh in us.”

We are told to put on the breast-plate of faith and love... the two go together like hand and glove!

1 Thessalonians 5:8, “But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.”

As we walk in the Spirit, the love of Christ will begin to flow through us, and will give birth to much faith. Among the fruit of the Spirit, we find both faith and love:

Galatians 5:22-33, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuf-fering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

When the love of Christ is flowing through us, it brings fourth much faith. God’s Word tells us clearly that faith works through love.

Galatians 5:6, “For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.”

Christmas is the season of joy, the season of sharing and giving and it is no different here at New Life. every year our Cell Church in Bhurkhunda visits the slums of Dhumdumgada and celebrate the season by dis-tributing sweets, clothes (that have been donated by well wishers), toys for children, Sarees for Widows and last christmas we attributed a free medical camp as well providing free medicines to the people of this village, We have been ministering to this village and have appointed Pastor. Christopher to minster to them.

Pastor Christopher was once a lay member of the cell group under the leadership of Dr. Aruna Hemborm who recently was transfered to Ranchi. The cell group grew from 2 to 56 over the period of 2 years. Every year we have a “Light Festival” gath-ering all the members and also invi-tees attend the open air Outreach Program and have been blessed with healing and seen miracles happen. It not astonishing to see the multitudes of people visit our Healing Prayer call and have been motivated to share the gospel with their friends on what the Lord has done for them.

Dr. Aruna was insprired by Mrs. Meena Hembrom to pastor the cell church after she had seen the hand of the Lord in her life. Weekly prayer gathering every friday and fasting prayer every 1st Saturday is the norm at all our cell groups.

Bhrukhuna falls under the Ramgarh District of Jharkhand and is home to the Coal Mines , 90% of the inhabidants work the mines in four different shifts .The people here suffer from various disease due to air and water pollution. So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:6-8As a Minister of the Gospel Lt.

Rev. Gopal Hembrom was a many with great vision for the Gospel, he was a man of many words and he did make sure that he was heard, Thus is the strength that the Lord implied in him during his days.
