Great Fosters is a fine example of Elizabethan architecture; set amongst50 acres of stunning gardens and parkland in Egham, Surrey, the hotel isa perfect venue for a wedding. This grand building became a hotel in the1930s and has been sympathetically converted by the Sutcliffe family, whoare still its current custodians. Great Fosters possesses a plethora oforiginal details and features and is both a Scheduled Historic Monumentand Grade I listed building.
Great Fosters is licensed to hold civil ceremonies and civil partnerships aswell as wedding receptions.
Spectacular topiary and statuary sit within a knot garden that isencompassed by a Saxon moat, a legacy from an architectural predecessor. Aglorious fountain plays beside a wisteria clad Japanese bridgeoverlooking a circular sunken rose garden... a perfect backdrop foryour photographs.
From your initial enquiry, one of our experienced and dedicated weddingco-ordinators will work with you to create the memorable day you havealways imagined. They will be on hand throughout the organisation ofyour wedding to offer advice, guidance and support leading up to the day.

Great Fosters is licensed to hold civil ceremonies and civil partnerships. Whenreserving the hotel for your wedding you will need to check the availability ofa registrar to conduct your ceremony. The register office for Great Fosters isthe North Surrey Register Office in Weybridge. They can be contacted on01932 794712. The register office will accept confirmed bookings up to twoyears in advance.
From May - September outdoor ceremonies may also be held in theArchery Pavilion adjacent to the moat and lawns.The registrar also asksthat you hire an indoor venue in case of inclement weather. The hire ofthe Archery lawn for a ceremony is £500.00.
On certain dates it is possible to hold a ceremony and reception in theOrangery (the room will be re-laid during your drinks reception). Theadditional fee for this is £1,000.
The hotel also holds Jewish ceremonies, blessings and humanist ceremonies.Our wedding co-ordinators and banqueting managers have a wealth ofexperience between them. They are familiar with most customs and traditionsand they really will do everything in their power to assist with the planning andexecution of your day. Dating from 1390, The Tithe Barn was painstakingly dismantled from itsoriginal site in Surrey and re-built at Great Fosters in the 1930s. It providesa romantic setting for a wedding with its exposed vaulted English oakbeams, open fire and Minstrels’ Gallery.
Reception drinks are held in the adjacent Painted Hall, which has its ownfireplace and private bar. During fine weather we suggest that drinks areserved on the Tithe Barn Terrace.
Following the wedding breakfast and speeches, coffee is served in thePainted Hall while the Tithe Barn is refreshed for the evening. You andyour guests may enjoy the rest of the evening until the music finishes andthe bar closes at midnight.
The Tithe Barn accommodates up to 180 guests seated on 18 roundtables of ten guests. We can accommodate up to 250 guests in theTithe Barn and Painted Hall for an evening reception after thewedding breakfast.
The Queen Anne Suite is reserved for the Bride and Groom on theirwedding night on a complimentary basis. A small complimentaryrefreshment room is also provided from midday until midnight.
We are able to accommodate a maximum of 10 guests around a table.Please note that children and highchairs still take up the space of a chairand we are unable to ‘squeeze’ l1 guests around a table.

With its tall arched windows in the style of the eighteenth century, theOrangery is an elegant room with views over the Magnolia Lawn and gardens.
Reception drinks are held in the adjacent Conservatory, which has itsown private bar. During fine weather we suggest that drinks are servedon the Magnolia Lawn.
Following the wedding breakfast and speeches, coffee is served in theConservatory while the Orangery is refreshed for the evening. You andyour guests may enjoy the rest of the evening until the music finishes andthe bar closes at midnight.
The Orangery accommodates up to 80 guests on round tables or up to100 guests on long tables, with up to 120 guests for an evening reception.
Panel II, a four poster bedroom, is reserved for the Bride and Groom ontheir wedding night on a complimentary basis. A small complimentaryrefreshment room is also included from midday until midnight.
We can accommodate a maximum of 10 guests around a table. Pleasenote that children and highchairs still take up the space of a chair and weare unable to ‘squeeze’ l1 around a table.

Great Fosters has a total of 41 individually decorated bedrooms and suites:-
THE MAIN HOUSE
All rooms are situated on the first and second floors of the originalbuilding, including beautiful historic bedrooms and suites and a selectionof double bedded, twin bedded and executive rooms. In addition thereare a few single bedded rooms.
THE COACH HOUSE
A short walk across the courtyard leads to the recently refurbished CoachHouse, which offers beautifully appointed suites and executive doubleand twin bedded rooms over the first and second floors.
THE CLOISTERS
These rooms are a short walk across the courtyard from the Main Houseand overlook an intimate garden.The Cloisters are an elegant collectionof three suites and eight double rooms including one that is suitable fordisabled guests. They offer excellent facilities and combine the charminghistorical features of the Main House with contemporary décor. All roomsare situated on the ground floor.
We are unable to guarantee that any bedrooms will be available for checkin prior to 3pm. If an earlier check in time is required the bedrooms willneed to be reserved the night prior. Guests are required to vacate theirbedrooms by 11am on the day of departure.

THE LITTLE THINGS
MASTER OF CEREMONIESWe recommend a Master of Ceremonies to assist in the smooth runningof your day and to help with announcements. Should you prefer not tohave a Master of Ceremonies our Banqueting Manager can assist withannouncements where necessary.
WEDDING CAKEWe request that your cake maker delivers your wedding cake to the hotelon the day of your wedding. We have a 15½” silver round or a 14”square cake stand with silver knife available on a complimentary basis.
LINENAll our linen is white. You may wish to hire chair covers and sashes, whichcome in a variety of colours. We recommend you order these in plentyof time from one of our trusted suppliers.
RIBBONWe roll our napkins and tie rust coloured ribbon around them. If youwould like us to tie a different colour please provide us with 70cm ofribbon per person cut into lengths.
CANDELABRAWe have twenty wrought iron table top candelabra and two free-standingcandelabra, supplied with slow burning cream church candles available tohire at a cost of £25.00 and £50.00 each respectively. If you wish to hirethese please advise us as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Yourflorist is welcome to decorate the candelabra if you wish.
MENUS, TABLE PLAN AND PLACE CARDSWe ask you to deliver your final table plan and place cards to the hotelthree days prior to your wedding. Our board for displaying table plans canbe portrait or landscape and is A1 size. We are delighted to print themenus for your wedding day for you on a complimentary basis (threeper table).
CHILDRENChildren aged twelve and under may eat a smaller portion of theadult menu, which is charged at 50% of the adult price, or their ownseparate children’s menu. We have a number of highchairs andbooster seats available. Please request these six to eight weeks beforeyour wedding.

TIMINGSGreat Fosters is a popular wedding venue and it is possible that twoweddings may take place on any given day. Your arrival time at the hotelwill be agreed at the initial booking stage to avoid conflicting with anotherevent. The first wedding to confirm their reservation is given the firstchoice of arrival time. If a second booking is taken, your weddingco-ordinator will advise the choice of arrival times available, this beingeither two hours before or two hours after the other wedding party arrives.
APPOINTMENTS TO DISCUSS YOUR WEDDINGWe suggest a meeting with your wedding co-ordinator to discuss thedetails for your wedding takes place three months prior to the day.Appointments can be made through the Events Office and are availablefrom 8.30am – 6pm Monday to Friday.
A limited number of appointments are also available on a Saturday but wesuggest that these are reserved at least 6 weeks in advance.
MUSICYou are welcome to arrange a band or disco if your wedding receptionis taking place in The Tithe Barn. We ask that the number of band membersdoes not exceed five. A disco is permitted for wedding receptions takingplace in the Orangery but live music is not permitted after 7pm.
DEPOSITS AND PAYMENTSAn initial deposit of £1,000 is required to secure your booking. A furtherpayment based on your contracted minimum number of guestsmultiplied by the minimum menu spend (£54.00 for 2013) is required sixmonths prior to your wedding. 100% of the estimated total cost isrequired 14 days prior to your wedding day. Full settlement of your finalaccount is required within 14 days of receipt of your invoice. In theunfortunate situation that you need to cancel your booking any paymentsare non refundable and cancellation charges will apply, as per our termsand conditions, unless we are able to re-sell the facilities for thesame value.
THE HOUSE AND GARDENSSome areas of the house and gardens have uneven surfaces and you andyour guests should take care. Children must be accompanied by an adultat all times, particularly near the lily pond, lake and moat.
SPECIAL NOTESIn order that the integrity of our historic building is preserved and ourcommitments to English Heritage and other guests met, we ask thatwedding guests do not gather on the Main Terrace or in the Parterres,Cocktail Bar or Main Hall. Photographs may be taken anywhere in thegrounds with the exception of the above areas.

FOUR MONTHS PRIORReserve specific bedrooms for close family and friends before sendingyour wedding invitations. Send your invitations and advise guests to bookany accommodation now while there is still availability. Book your menutasting with your wedding co-ordinator.
THREE MONTHS PRIORBook a meeting with your wedding co-ordinator to discuss all thearrangements for the day in detail. This meeting will take about 1 – 1½hours.
Confirm your bedrooms with our Reservations Manager.
Confirm your precise requirements with your florist, photographer,videographer, the companies supplying the wedding transport and tablelinen and all musicians / DJ.
Ask your cake maker to deliver and set up your cake on the day itself.That way if anything happens on the way to the hotel it is theirresponsibility and not yours!
THREE DAYS PRIORDeliver your table plan, place cards, favours, table decorations (apartfrom flowers), ribbon for the napkins (if providing), gifts for the Best Man,Bridesmaids or anyone else to your wedding co-ordinator. Confirm thefinal numbers with your wedding co-ordinator.

the head dress properly and make any last minute adjustments when the
photographer arrives. All of this will help to ensure that you stay relaxed with
plenty of time to spare. For large bridal parties, or when time is limited. I will
bring a professional make-up artist with me if required at no additional cost.
