! St. Mary’s Church and New Testament Church are sponsoring a Christmas Cantata on Friday, December 8th at 7:30pm to be held at St. Mary’s Church. ‘THE GLORY OF THE LORD’ is a musical cantata written by Mike Herron containing 10 songs from the Scriptures that tell the story of Christ’s birth. It is performed in a theatricallyrical style by soloists, a mixed vocal group and an orchestra along with a compelling narrative. 'The Glory of the Lord' has become a seasonal favor-ite and is a wonderful way to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World! Tickets for this beautiful event are $10/person (12 & under free) and can be purchased by contacting the Parish Offices or New Testament Church (3157692469 or 3157699951). The net proceeds from this event will be donated to local food pantries. This is a ticketed admission event, so even for our “free” under age 12 audience will need tickets. This will ensure we have enough seats. !

Advent begins today! With the beginning of Advent, our Liturgical Cycle in Church starts over ! it’s the beginning of our new Liturgical Year. With this “new year,” I
begin a series of Sunday homilies at which we will unveil and explore a vision for our Catholic Commu-nity in Massena and Louisville. A “vision” is not a specific plan of action ! that comes later, in the form of concrete steps to make the vision a reality. No, the “vision” is something like a “dream” about how things ought to be . . . I’ll explain it all at the homily ! and it’s going to take me more than just one Sunday to do it. So, “stay tuned,” and let’s take advantage of the many different opportunities for spiritual growth in the coming weeks . . . graces that will carry us through the Christmas Season, throughout 2018, and beyond.!

The celebration of Advent is rich in rituals and symbolism and is one of the best times for parents to help their families grow closer to God. The traditions that families establish during Advent build lasting memories and are an easy way for parents to catechize their children. Active Waiting…!
! !
! The Second Vatican Council reflects upon the rela-tionship between the coming of Christ and our activity to prepare for it. In the Constitution on the Church in the Modern World, we read, "Far from diminishing our concern to develop this earth, the expectancy of a new earth should spur us on, for it is here that the body of a new human family grows, foreshadowing in some way the age which is to come....When we have spread on earth the fruits of our nature and our enterprise hu-man dignity, brotherly communion and freedom ac-cording to the command of the Lord and in his Spirit, we will find them once again, cleansed this time from the stain of sin, illuminated and transfigured, when Christ presents to his Father an eternal and universal kingdom...." (#39). In other words, the spirit of Advent should naturally bolster our prolife efforts, and the pro-gress we make in promoting human dignity becomes the "building blocks" for the eternal kingdom. !
