Visiting Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini

Arrive in Athens

Arrive in AthensOn arrival in Athens, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. In the evening you may enjoy the optional “Athens by Night” tour. Overnight in Athens. Pick up in the morning from your hotel.

From the Acropolis to Omonoia Square, you'll see with this full day trip all the famous sites of ancient and modern Athens. O�ering a perfect overview of the modern city, this guided tour will help you get your bearings if this is your first visit to Athens. The Athens full-day tour departs for a photo stop at Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games took place in 1896. A�erwards, stop by Zappeion and Temple of Olympian Zeus. You will then drive past the Athens Trilogy which includes the University of Athens, the Academy of Athens, and the National Library. Continue passing by National Garden, Hadrian’s Arc, St. Paul’s Church, Parliament, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Schliemann’s House (Numismatic Museum), Catholic Cathedral, Old Parliament, Constitution Square, Russian Orthodox Church, and finally the Acropolis. Continue the guided sightseeing tour and Acropolis museum one-day tour with a pleasant short walk passing by Herodion and Dionysus Theater, in order to visit the Acropolis Museum. Skip the lines and see the main attractions which include votives, statues from the archaic period, Caryatids, and the Parthenon hall with the metopes, the pediments, and the frieze.A�er a morning tour, continue to a local restaurant under the slopes of the Acropolis for lunch. A�er lunch depart for a wonderful drive along the scenic coastal road which a�ords a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf, passing through some of Athens’ most beautiful suburbs (Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza) to Cape Sounion. Cape Sounion is only 45 miles (70 kilometers) from Athens, making it the perfect destination for a lazy a�ernoon tour. The Cape's Temple of Poseidon is perched on a rocky hilltop overlooking the sea. The view across the Aegean is magnificent with one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the world, extending all the way to Kea and the Peloponnese on a clear day. The Temple of Poseidon was built in 44 B.C., and many of its original Doric columns are still standing. One of the columns has gra�iti le� by none other than Lord Byron in the early 1800s. The precipice is a sheer 197-foot drop to the sea.Return to your hotel late in the a�ernoon. Overnight in Athens. (B)

Athens – Mykonos Morning transfer to Piraeus pier for your ferry to Mykonos. The rest of the day is yours to explore the most famous of the Cycladic Islands. Overnight in Mykonos. (B)

Mykonos – Santorini Board a high-speed ferry for the stunning volcanic island of Santorini. Regarded by many as the most spectacular Greek island, Santorini boasts ancient rock formations, raw lava-layered cli�s, and beautiful black sand beaches. Overnight in Santorini. (B)

Day 5

Santorini - Athens



In the morning, spend some free time for last-minute shopping. A�erwards, transfer to the Airport. Arrive in Athens late in the evening and transfer to your hotel.Overnight in Athens. (B)

Santorini – Volcano and hot springs boat tour In the morning, you will be picked up from a designated pick-up point and taken to Athinios port in order to take the traditional boat. The first stop is to the islet of Nea Kameni where you’ll have the opportunity to climb to the crater (1 ½ hours). Next the boat stops to Palea Kameni for a short swim to the Hot Springs, which are considered to have healing powers (30 minutes). A�erwards head to Thirassia island, where you have 2 hours free to explore the island, swim, or have lunch. Finally, the boat sails along the coast and ends up at the port of Athinios. Overnight in Santorini. (B)

Depart Athens Today, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home. (B)
