Contribution to Net ZeroIn June 2019 the UK government declared a legally binding target of Net Zero emissions by 2050 and North East Lincolnshire has since declared a climate emergency. Aura Power is excited to help the region’s ambitions to be the UK capital of the renewable energy industry. As we emerge from a global health crisis, the Government has pledged to ‘build back greener’. There is a clear imperative to think global and act local and we hope that Grimsby Solar Farm can be a part of this.

Key Facts• The solar farm will have a capacity of up to

49.9 MW• Indicative site area of circa 134ha • It will generate enough electricity to power

the equivalent of 27 200 homes*1

• It will save approximately 25 100 tonnes of CO2 each year*2

• It will contribute over £100,000 in business rates to North East Lincolnshire Council every year

• Includesspeciesrichwildflower,treeandhedgerow planting designed for screening and to enhance biodiversity and ecology

• Studies into environmental, landscape, heritage,ecology,hydrology,andtraffictoinform the design of the site

TimescalesFollowing the consultation we will take on board feedback where feasible. A planning application is expected to be submitted in early spring this year. The Local Planning Authority will consult with local people and other interested parties on the application before making a decision based upon local and national policy.

Why Here?Our aim is to locate the solar farm appropriately and as sensitively as possible to the surroundings. The site has been selected due to: • Nearbygridconnectionwithsufficientcapacity• The site can be screened largely with existing trees and hedgerows, and

where views are possible, new vegetation is proposed to mitigate this• Goodaccessandthelandisrelativelyflat• The site is not covered by any landscape designations• Good levels of solar irradiation in this part of England • Two wind turbines and large overhead power lines already on site.

We propose a CommunityBenefit

Fund of £350 per MW per year, index-linked, for

the lifetime of the solar farm. This could amount to

£17,500 a year for 35 years to support

projects bringing educational, social and environmental benefitstothearea
