Now, thats a shower.

A real tragedySalvador Cabañas, Paraguays soccer international Nº 10 who hasgiven our country so many joys and played an important role in help-ing his country to be in this years World Soccer Cup was shot in thehead last Monday in the toilette of a restaurant in Mexico City. Thereare still conflicting reports as to the reason of the attempt. We wish Salvador a quick recovery.

Well done ladyNewspaper reports emanating from Ciudad del Este report that twomotorcycle riders held up a lady driving a luxurious Mercedes Benz. The lady in question turned out to be a dentist who, after havinghanded over all her possessions, started up her car and gave chase tothe two robbers who she finally caught up with just outside a policestation where she rammed the bike. The police took charge and the two thieves are locked up.Im not too sure whether Ill seek the ladys services when it comesto fixing my teeth though.

Made my dayThere is no doubt that there are many, well probably millions ofsouls who like to do good deeds. Thus it happened that a few days

ago I received an e-mail from an old friend S.H. who had the kindthought of mailing me the history (plus a good number of works) ofthe Argentine painter F. Molina Campos.Having spent many a long summer on Argentine ranches where Ibecame a devotee of this painters works, for they were being pub-lished every year through the Alpargatas calendars that hung in thestables of the ranch and could be admired every day as I went tosaddle my horse.Years later I also became enthralled by the works of the Americanartist Norman Rockwell who also, much like Molina Campos, de-

picted through his paintings the simple ways of daily life. One show-ing what ranch living was like, the other the natural views depictinghow American folk lived.

Live and learnA definition of globalisation that I can understand and to which Inow can relate:

Question:What is the truest definition of Globalisation?

Answer:Princess Dianas death.Question:How come?Answer:An English princess with an Egyptian boyfriend crashes in a Frenchtunnel, riding in a German car with a Dutch engine, driven by a Bel-gian who was drunk on Scottish whisky, (check the bottle before youchange the spelling), followed closely by Italian Paparazzi, on Japa-nese motorcycles, treated by an American doctor, using Brazilianmedicines. This was sent to me by a Canadian, usingAmerican Steve Jobs tech-nology, and youre probably reading this on your computer, that usesTaiwanese chips, and a Korean monitor, assembled by Bangladeshiworkers in a Singapore plant, transported by Indian truck drivers, hijacked by Indonesians, unloaded by Sicilian longshoremen, andtrucked to you by Mexican illegals.....That, my friends, is Globalisation!

More on Australian tennis openIt will be all over for the ladies by tomorrow and Sunday for thegents. It has been a most interesting fortnight, many of the games

going to five sets which demonstrated lustre to the fine athletic formsome of the participating players managed to stay in.

The Humour CornerBy Eduardo Teddy Abello

Idiot signs1) A motorist was unknowingly caught in an automated speed trapthat measured his speed using radar and photographed his car. Helater received in the mail a ticket for $40 and a photo of his car.Instead of payment, he sent the police department a photograph of$40. Several days later, he received a letter from the police that con-tained another picture, this time of handcuffs. He immediately mailedin his $40. Wise guy........2) A guy walked into a little corner store with a shotgun and de-manded all of the cash from the cash drawer. After the cashier put thecash in a bag, the robber saw a bottle of Scotch that he wanted be-hind the counter on the shelf. He told the cashier to put it in the bagas well, but the cashier refused and said, Because I dont believeyou are over 21. The robber said he was, but the clerk still refused togive it to him because she didnt believe him. At this point, the rob-ber took his drivers license out of his wallet and gave it to the clerk. The clerk looked it over and agreed that the man was in fact over 21and she put the Scotch in the bag. The robber then ran from the storewith his loot. The cashier promptly called the police and gave thename and address of the robber that she got off the license. Theyarrested the robber two hours later.3) A pair of Michigan robbers entered a record shop nervously wav-ing revolvers. The first one shouted, Nobody move! When his partner moved, the startled first bandit shot him.4) Arkansas: Seems this guy wanted some beer pretty badly. He de-cided that hed just throw a cinder block through a liquor store win-dow, grab some booze, and run. So he lifted the cinder block andheaved it over his head at the window. The cinder block bouncedback knocking him unconscious. It seems the liquor store window

was made of Plexi-Glass. The whole event was caught on videotape.Idiots in the neighbourhoodI live in a semi-rural area. We recently had a new neighbour call thelocal township administrative office to request the removal of theDeer Crossing sign on our road. The reason: Too many deer arebeing hit by cars out here! I dont think this is a good place for themto be crossing anymore.
