She has been at the tile trade for about 14 years, "on and off." She learned to lay tiles when her first husband, a contractor, taught her how. "He didn't like it," she said of the tile laying process, "so I ended up doing it." Stack prefers being self employed. When she returned to the island, "tiles weren't that popular at first." So she gained employment at Lady Minto Hospi- tal to ensure that the ends of her budget matched. Now, however, she is busy. "In the past five years, it has mushroomed," she says assuredly.
