What is Holistic Assessment ?

Holistic Assessment VisionNurturing confident persons, curious

learners and co-operative pupils.

Holistic Assessment MissionTo engage pupils in cooperative learning

environment and provide opportunities for them to give and receive qualitative feedback on their learning.

Build on child’s confidence and desire to learn

Bite-sized assessments Focus more on child’s development and skills

acquisition to enable more meaningful learning

Less emphasis on single-point assessment such as semestral exams

2 Types of AssessmentsWeighted

(Summative , Formative)Non-weighted

Measure pupils’ achievement and report evidence of learning

Carried out at the end of a few units

Scores used in the calculation for the year-end final marks

Support classroom learning and teaching and improve pupils’ learning.

Take place all the time in the classroom.

Redirect learning in ways that help pupils master learning goals.

Examples: Topical Quizzes /Tests, Oral, Year-end examination

Examples: Learning journey, experiential activities, computer lab sessions
