A preview gala for the Hampton Designer Showhouse, presented by Traditional Home Magazine to benefit Southampton Hospital, took place at 80 Flying Point Road in Southampton.

“ArtMrkt,” a contemporary and modern art fair, featured 40 leading galleries from across the United States at the Bridgehampton Histori-cal Society Grounds. A preview party took place to benefit the Parrish Art Museum.

“Love Heals” benefit for the Ali-son Gertz Foundation for AIDS Education took place at Luna Farm in Sagaponack.

The Independent Newspaper, Hampton Daze Magazine, Lu Berry and The Dining Engagement Group presented “Off The Record - Wine & Dine,” a food and wine festival with live entertainment. Wine tastings were provided by Wolffer Estate Vineyard and Palmer Vineyard. Chef tastings were presented by Avanti Culinary Market, Insatiable Eats Catering, Cait’s Baked @ Pantigo Farm Co., Squiretown Restaurant, and Chef Joe Cipro. Following the food and wine was a dance instruc-tion by the Arthur Murray Dance Studio, along with performances by Danny Raffa, Eluminum, Jillian Griffiths and a swimsuit fashion show by Lu Berry. While the Clamshell Foundation presented the “Great Bonac Fireworks Show” over Three Mile Harbor, the Duke Family hosted a benefit for the Max Cure Foundation for Pediatric Cancer and Fundacion Amistad.

Hampton Daze Magazine hosted “Fashion Spectrum” at XVI Roof-top in New York City with DEG Production and Initiative Entertainment Group. The event featured collections by Tiara Austini and Sylvia Rob-inson along with music by DJ Etienne.

For six consecutive Saturdays, The Bridgehampton Polo Club hosted a VIP cocktail party at Two Trees Farm.

ScaleAFRICA, a non profit organization dedicated to rebuilding schools in rural Sub-Saharan Africa, held its third annual summer benefit at Above Allen at the Thompson Hotel in New York City.

Luke and Michele Herger met when Michele returned to her college town of Southampton, and moved in next door to Luke. After years of dating Luke proposed marriage at The Temple of Love at Old Westbury Gardens, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The couple were married at a private venue on the ocean in their home town of Southampton. Luke and Michele now live on the South Fork, with their Silky Terrier, Sebastian. Luke has worked his entire professional career for John Herger Builders of Southampton. John Herger, Luke’s father has been building homes on the East End for over 35 years. Michele is a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson with Nest Seekers International in Southampton. Giving back to the community has been a passion of Michele’s since a young age. With her families commitment to several deserving non-profit organizations, and her involvement as a Girl Scout from

Kindergarten to Senior Year of High School. Michele achieved the top honor awarded by the Girls Scouts of America for her dedication to volunteerism and community service. In January 2012, Michele was named Mrs. Suffolk County NY America. “It is truly an honor, and I am elated to have been named Mrs. Suffolk County! It is with great pleasure and great pride that I represent the married women of Suffolk County in the prestigious Mrs. New York America Pageant in October of 2012!” Says Michele. The Mrs. New York America Pageant is preliminary to the Mrs. America and Mrs. World Pageants. This summer is in full swing and there have been so many events and fundraisers that help to raise money and awareness for great causes. Last Chance Animal Rescuehosted its 4th annual “Martinis

for Mutts” fundraiser at the Water Mill Estate of Michael & Marcy Warren on July 14. There were many people there who brought their dogs and the event honored Wendy Diamond and Dina Manzo. There were both live and silent auctions and of course cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. For more information on the Last Chance Animal Rescue, please visit www.lcarf.org.

Another great event was the “Diamond in the Rough” Annual Gala at the Montauk Playhouse which raises funds for the continuing construction of various phases for the playhouse. This year guests got to experience a walk-through of the area that will be the aquatic center within the playhouse which the

community can benefit from. This year the honorary Co-Chairs were Aida Turturro and Jerry O’Connell. The Master of Ceremonies was Charlie O’Connell. Guests enjoyed cocktails and music followed by dinner and a live auction which received some phenomenal bidding wars that may have topped any other year yet! The honorees were Cindi and Dave Ceva, Marlena and Sam Gershowitz and Ron and Joan Hildreth. To keep up with what’s happening at the playhouse, visit www.montaukplayhouse.org. When attending so many events, you want to make sure you look your best especially for photo ops. I had the opportunity to try spray tanning for the first time from the Endz Salon in Montauk.

Owner Rose Schwehr was so gracious and made the experience a wonderful one. I could see the difference right away and it was an instant tan with no orange look. When Did DJing peak your interest? When I was growing up my best friends' family owned three record stores. I spent a lot of time there and I knew at a very young age that I wanted to be involved with music. Only, back then I thought I would be a rock star. It was when I started working in the nightclubs and guys like Funkmaster Flex and Biz Markee were the DJs; I saw and heard what they could do with these records and that was when I knew that I wanted to do the same.

Most memorable gig? That's a tough one. A lot of these parties have been memorable, like the time I played for 2000 international students in 80's costumes in Philadelphia. There were Japanese girls dressed like Madonna and Indian guys dressed like Andre Aggasi, it was super weird and really fun. Another time I played a Brazilian wedding. There was an indoor pool at the mansion and the bride dove in and broke her nose on the wall of the pool. I'll never forget that night.

Serato or Tracktor? CDJs or Technics? In the beginning it was my records and the Technics 1200's and I switched to Serato a few years ago. It sure beats lugging those crates around.

Best Hamptons Nightclub past or present?Having worked at The Star Room for six years, I'd have to say that its my favorite for all time. I walked through there recently and it looks like Grey Gardens. It’s sad but I wouldn't trade the summers we shared there for anything.

What do you do when party go-ers have a request. Follow up: What if they write it on a $100 bill? If a request is just a request I always try to consider it, sometimes people have good suggestions. However, a lot of the time the request is more of a demand and I have a zero tolerance policy for demands. I also have a policy of accepting $100 bills, so go ahead and try me.

What’s your signature style when it comes to entertaining the crowd? I tend to mix the old with the new and I always trust my ear more than I trust the charts. I always take the warm up set seriously, because dur-ing the peak times there are some things that you are expected to play, but for the first hour or so there is a real opportunity to be creative and put your tastes on showcase. As far as my tastes are concerned, whatever style the music is in, its got to have soul.

What do you think we'll see more of or less of in music this year? I think we will continue to see radio and tv force the same boring bubblegum pop down our throats. I believe that it will become increas-ingly important for the DJs to seek out great music and give the people more options. As the technology to create and share music continues to becomes more available to people, we are going to see some of the best music come from peoples bedrooms instead of from the big studios.

Top 5 most played songs on your ipod? When most people want to relax they put their headphones on. When I want to relax, I take them off. I don't own an iPod.
