3. Map and how to get here
HOW TO GET HERE FROM THE MADRID AIRPORT
We do not provide a pickup service from the airport but Madrid is an incredibly safe city and
all our public transportation is extremely reliable and secure! All the hotels we work with, the
venue where we hold the Tapas Reception and the place where we meet to leave for all our
programs (known as the Meeting Point) are very, very near each other!
How convenient, right?!
Here are the two best ways to reach this area of Madrid coming from Madrid Airport (also
known as Barajas Airport).
METRO – This is the cheapest way to get to the Meeting Point. Eurobuilding 2 (Calle Orense
69) is directly in between metro stop “Cuzco” (on dark blue line 10) and metro stop “Tetuán”
(on light blue line 1). Either metro stop is about a 10 minute walk to the Meeting Point.
• Cost: 5 € -- You will have to purchase a Billete Sencillo + Suplemento Aeropuerto at one of
the automated ticket machines. You can use a credit card or cash.
• Travel time: Approximately 40 – 50 minutes
• Opening Hours: 6am – 2am
TAXI – This is the fastest and most comfortable way to get to the Meeting Point.
• Cost: 30€ (fixed price from the Barajas Airport to downtown Madrid) – Give the taxi driver
the exact address, “Calle Orense 69”, or the name of the building, “Eurobuilding 2”. It is a
fairly well known building. You can use a credit card or cash.
• Travel Time: Approximately 15 minutes
• Available 24h/day

HOW DO I CONFIRM MY SPOT ON THE PROGRAM?
Once you receive your invitation to volunteer, secure your spot on the program by confirming your travel and accommodation details (Flight number, arrival date and time, hotel/other accommodation details). You can upload them on to your profile here. If you do not have travel and accommodation planned all at once, that is OK – you can upload it at your own rate. Volunteers are not 100% confirmed until we have their travel and accommodation details.
WHAT IF I’M NOT FLYING TO MADRID?
That’s perfectly fine too. If you are taking a train or bus to Madrid, please send us your train or bus details instead of your flight details. If you live in Spain and/or will already be in Spain at the time of the program, please send us an email here to let us know.
WHEN SHOULD I FLY IN AND OUT?
We ask volunteers to arrive in Madrid by the Saturday evening before the program starts. So, for example, if your program starts on Sunday, March 5th then you should land in Madrid by Saturday, March 4th.

DO YOU OFFER TRANSFERS FROM THE AIRPORT?
No, we do not. See above for suggestions on how to get from the Madrid Airport to the area around the Meeting Point.
WHAT EXPENSES WILL I BE SHOULDERING?
You will pay for your flights to and from Madrid and any accommodation before and after the program. Our company will cover all the expenses as soon as the program officially starts on Sunday. Vaughan Systems provides you with accommodation and three meals a day in any of the venues, transfers to and from the towns from Madrid and personal injury insurance during the course of the program. We also invite you to a tapas sampling orientation on Saturday afternoon where you will get acquainted with the volunteers in your group.

4. FAQs

CAN MY SPOUSE OR MY CHILD COME WITH ME WITHOUT BEING A VOLUNTEER?
No. All participants at VaughanTown and FiftyFifty must be 18 or over and, to be present on one of our programs, you must be a participant. We often receive the request where invited volunteers will ask to bring their spouses, children or friends on the program with them. We can’t allow people who aren’t part of the program to come with the rest of the group as it interferes with the group dynamic and the way the program evolves.
CAN I BRING PETS?
No, you cannot bring pets to the program because the hotels we stay in do not allow it. For all the animal-lovers out there, we apologize and hope for your understanding.
DO I NEED TO BE INSURED WHILE I’M THERE?
Vaughan Systems will provide personal injury insurance for the duration of your program. If you are 70 years of age or older please get
in touch with us by clicking here to ask about signing and insurance waiver.
DO I NEED A VISA IF I AM NOT AN UE CITIZEN?
If you are not an UE, USA or Canadian citizen, please contact your embassy. We can send you a letter of invitation for VaughanTown or FiftyFifty if required.
