Hello All,

My last week already! It has really flown and with all that is happening this week it will be Friday before I know it! Luckily, with such a busy couple of weeks coming up, we have an extra pair of hands with a trainee teacher visiting for a three week practical experience. Please join me in welcoming Magdalena Tazbir-Buckley to the team.

THANK YOU

During the week we received a very generous donation towards our Canberra excursion. This wonderful (and anonymous) donation has reduced the cost of the excursion by $100 per student. It is a tribute to both the school and the community. I would like to extend both mine and Pam’s personal thanks.

BIRTHDAYS

We had two birthdays last week – Happy Birthday Samantha and Andie. We all enjoyed the cake.

LIBRARY

Last week we sent home reminders for outstanding library books. Some children have so many library books out or overdue, that they can’t borrow any more until they are returned. Would you please have a look around at home – my favourite places to look for my children’s books were under the bed and between the seats on the lounge!

YEAR 6

Our Year 6 students ill have a busy week - they will have a chance to meet peer support buddies this week at Heron’s Creek Public School on Tuesday 9. Then on Wednesday those sitting the CHATS Test will attend CHHS

TERM 3 WEEK 4 2016 ISSUE 24


The students have been very enthusiastic in their practicing for our CHAFFs performance. Their on stage rehearsal at CHHS will be on Tuesday 16 August with transport by bus. Please note that students will need to arrive at school by 8.45am. Students will return to school for lunch. Permission note is attached.

MOORLAND SOCCER GALA DAY We are all looking forward to a great day out at Moorland Oval on Thursday 11. Let’s hope the sun keeps shining all week. Just a few notes still to be returned. Please make sure your child has their hat and drinking water packed for the day.

MANNING ZONE PSSA RESCHEDULED

Due to closure of the grounds last Friday, this carnival has been rescheduled to this coming Friday 12 August. Note attached.

HASTINGS SCIENCE FAIR

Year 5 students have been invited to attend and judge the Hastings Science Fair. On display will be Year 8 students Techno Museum tasks and Year 10’s Individual Research Projects. The Hastings Science Fair is showcasing work from Hastings Secondary College, Camden Haven and Wauchope High Schools. This promises to be a dynamic learning activity and Year 5 are specifically invited to judge the entries. Community members are also welcome to attend throughout the day. Permission note attached.

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program News

This week was a bit waterlogged for gardening, so we did some prep work

for spring planting. Using old toilet rolls as compostable planting tubes, we planted a variety of different seeds for future planting out. We also made some markers for different plants out of small stones and some larger wooden ones for our new trees from last week.

Again, the food was amazing. We have attached recipes for last week as promised.

P&C News CANBERRA EXCURSION

The P&C would like to extend a big thank you to the very generous community member who made a donation towards the Canberra excursion. It has been very gratefully received.

Thanks for your support of the recess canteen last week. This Wednesday is lunch canteen and the order form is attached. Please return asap. We are all looking forward to another yummy lunch.

LUCKY PICK WINNER

Not enough numbers were sold last week so the Lucky Pick has been carried over to this week. Please continue to support this valuable fundraiser.

DAYS FOR GIRLS

Tickets are still available for sale at the office for the beautiful quilt that is being raffled. This is a very worthwhile cause.

P&C MEETING

This Friday’s meeting has been postponed due to the Zone Carnival. A new date will be advised asap.
