Lovely to see so many interested parents and friends along to this Meeting! Our next big P&C event will be at the Hannam Vale Gardens on October 23!

THE DAIRY FARMERS PICNIC

What a great turn out for our local dairy farmers, and the message IS loud and clear – dairy farming is alive and well in this magnificent Valley that we live in.

Thanks to the Recreational Reserve Committee for hosting such a fine event.

Graham Bird told of his lifelong relationship with dairy farming, and now he has – along with partner Julie- built and works his own. Certainly, although moving to the city, that dairy farming “bug” did not leave Grahams life.

It was both humbling and inspiring to listen to Karen give a passionate account of the vocation she enjoys. She was able to also convey the complex nature of what it is to be a dairy farmer. Her understanding of the emotional roller coaster that farming brings to the people who depend on it for their livelihood illustrates to us all why dairy farmers are tough, resilient, highly respected members of the community that they are so much part of.

Tim Bale then painted the broader picture touching on the influence of political decision making and the enormous control that the big supermarkets exert on the milk market.

The food was delicious, the company wonderful. This is a fine community that we live in. Bravo to the Dairy Farmers of our local area!

Thanks everyone for your ongoing support and friendship! Pam Everingham (Teaching Principal)
