What is your favourite subject at school and why? Art – especially painting and drawing – as I get the chance to be creative What project are you working on in class? Natural disasters. As part of this we had to make an earthquake proof building. We made them as tall as we could from paper plates, cups, straws and tape and they had to stay standing if they were tapped If you could speak any other language fluently, which would you choose? Italian – because I love spaghetti! Do you have any pets? Tell us about one … We have two Cavoodles called Bonnie and Clyde, Clyde likes to pop onto your lap when you are not looking! If you were stranded on a deserted island and had plenty of food, water and shelter, what are three additional things you would want to take? A boat! A communicating radio A satellite phone What is the biggest dream you have for the future? To become a paramedic

A Big Thank You! The open gardens was a huge success on the weekend and wasn’t it a glorious day! We are so thankful for that bit of rain that gave everything a pick up before the big day A big thank you to all those people who were able to assist at the Reserve Café or the school on the day and also all those involved in the initiative. These events would not happen without your help and we raised a significant amount of money for the students of our school. A special thank you to Mrs E for donating her time and effort (as well as her family’s time!) to ensure that the school and garden looked its best.

Change of Routine Days – this week This week Johns River PS and Hannam Vale PS will be coming together for a combined Personal Development and Health day. All students from both JRPS and HVPS will attend Johns River Public School on Tuesday 22nd October. All students from both JRPS and HVPS will attend Hannam Vale Public School on Wednesday 23rd October.

Parents and carers are asked to drop off and collect their children at the correct school on these days. If you have any questions just pop into the office and see a member of staff.

Dates for the diary! Term 4 is always a busy time of year as we celebrate achievements and say farewell to our year 6 students. Here are a few important events to pop into your diaries. More details to follow nearer the time. School Musical – Drum roll please ……. It’s officially here, the date is set, HVPS Musical is happening on Wednesday 20th November! This musical spectacular will be taking place at the Hannam Vale Hall with a matinee performance at 10am and an evening show at 6pm. Presentation Day – Our end of year presentation day will take place on Tuesday 10th December at 10am in the school hall and will be followed by morning tea. Year 6 Farewell – The Year 6 farewell dinner at the Hannam Vale Store will be on Wednesday 11th December at 5.45pm followed by a disco for all students at the Hannam Vale Hall at 7pm.

School Banking We have been contacted by the Commonwealth Bank regarding our school banking program. As we do not have a consistent banking amount or regularity of deposits we were given a choice to create these or suspend the program. At this stage, we have decided to suspend the program and we will review it for next year. This item will be further discussed at our next P&C meeting so please come along, or contact the school if you have any feedback.

Apology It has been brought to my attention that I misspelt a student’s name last week. My sincere apologies go to Klaudia Newby! And welcome again to Klaudia and Ilsa Newby who have joined us for Term 4.



P&C News Hannam Vale Open Gardens Café

Thank you, thank you, thank you! What a wonderful community you are! We had a great day yesterday at the Open Gardens. Lots of helpers, yummy scones and wonderful community spirit. It was also great to catch up with everyone on such a social occasion. Everyone from our school community contributed in varied and valuable ways, but I would like to particularly thank those of you who helped out with the organisation while I was away – Gemma, Magda, Donna and Adam. It made my life much easier when I returned. As always, thanks to community member Lee Crutcher for your endless support, and our students and ex-students who supported us.

P&C Meeting The next P&C meeting will be held on this Friday 25th October at 8.30am.
