Term 2 Week 10 HILL END PUBLIC SCHOOL 24th june 2021 Happy Holidays! HILL END PUBLIC SCHOOL 151 YEARS Secretarys School Achievement Award The Golden Quill It has been a very busy week at Hill End Public School as we finish off our studies on Material World. This term we have built bird houses, pet rock houses, cata- pults, flick flacks and Pin wheels. To finish the topic off the students, in pairs, had to design something to hold or encase a raw egg as it is dropped from a height. They had to combine the knowledge that they have learned during the topic on Material Prop- erties and come up with a design. On Wednes- day afternoon we opened our classroom up to visitors and tested the designs. I am glad to say that every egg survived both a 1 metre and 2 metre drop. Fantastic achievement to the students engineer- ing skills. A big thankyou to all of the visitors who came along to enjoy the BBQ and the experiment. The staff are busy plan- ning lots of exciting and engaging tasks for the next term. Our topic for next term is Agriculture based around food and fibre production. Stay tuned for where this might take us….. Have a fantastic and relaxing holiday and we look forward to seeing all the students smiling faces on Tuesday 13 th July. The Hill End Clinic is open Monday Wednesday and Fridays from 1pm-3pm.

If you cannot attend the clinic home visits are available on request by calling 6337 8263.

The next GP clinic is on Tuesday April 6th. This is not a walk up clinic, so please call me on

6337 8263 to book your appointment.

Next Wednesday is World Health Day. Every year World Health Day is celebrated on 7 April to mark

the anniversary of the founding of WHO in 1948. Each year a theme is selected for World Health Day that

highlights a priority area of concern for WHO.

World Health Day is a global campaign, inviting everyone – from global leaders to the public in all coun-

tries – to focus on a single health challenge with global impact. Focusing on new and emerging health is-

sues, World Health Day provides an opportunity to start collective action to protect people’s health and

well-being. Stay safe everyone, Fiona

Adalyn and Imogen had a wonderful afternoon with Mrs Rayner and Mrs Kimm last Friday.

Along with all the fun and games we also had four visitors to the school. Michael and Mark Askew who came to

purchase our 150th books. Greg and Olive Laughton also came for a visit. (Olive is an ex-teacher, now 94)

Olive loved meeting our students and she kindly donated $100.00 towards books for them.

Open Classroom A big thankyou to all the parents, family members, carers and community who came yesterday

and enjoyed a yummy BBQ lunch at school for the Open Classroom. The students were so proud

term and the results are proudly displayed for all to see.

Once again, our students have produced some incredible

art, projects, built objects and much more to fill the

Portal Space this term. Material World - Well done!
