Football Updates

The U11 Boys won big on Saturday against the Northeast Schools, 6-0. This moves Coach Greg’s boys up to fourth in the table with three more rounds to go before semi-finals.

The U11 Girls drew 0-0 against Triple C but find themselves in second place overall after a solid 3-0 win against Cayman Prep in week one of the competition. Coach Mary and Coach Julia will surely have the girls ready to play their final two rounds in January before semi-finals begin.

Our U9 Boys also recorded a resounding victory this weekend, beating Triple C 7-0. This keeps Coach Juan’s boys at the top of the table in the U9 division having scored 13 goals and al-lowed zero. The U9 boys resume their march to the trophy in January against the South Sound Schools.

Youth Inline Hockey

The Youth Inline Hockey event took place at King’s

Sports Center on Friday, December 09. CIS students

were represented in teams that participated.

The second place winners of the Youth Inline Hockey

final U14 was Dart’s team that included CIS students

Henri M, Kayden K and Joe P.

In 10u game with CIBC Vs Remax/Bovell the score

was 4:3 to the Remax/Bovell team. The players from CIS in the 10U are: Robbie S, Lachlin L, Rhys M and Andy H.

All the kids worked very hard. It was an exciting tournament! CIS is very proud of all the players that represented the school!

CIS Serves

Last week, Kaden C and

Maxx H in Kindergar-

ten, organized a sale of

homemade cookies and

hand made coral orna-

ments, as a way to

contribute to their ser-

vice learning project around the CIS giving tree. Instead

of asking to do additional jobs around the house, they

decided to make gifts to give away in turn for a small

donation from people passing by at the Camana Bay mar-

ket last Wednesday.

Fundraising for Ecuador

The High School Girls Football team held a 3v3

football fundraiser on Friday, December 9th in

preparation for CAISSA. This was a great event

that provided opportunities for students to enjoy

the sport of football and support their fellow

peers as they travel to Quito, Ecuador in January

2017 to compete. A special thanks to all the stu-

dents who took part in this event and a special

thanks to the PTA for their support in providing

Camana Bay gift cards for the winning teams!

CIS Model UN Trip

Last week our students went to their fifth annual Model UN Conference in Chica-go. CIMUN XIII was attended by 1500 students from schools throughout the USA, Can-ada and Central America, and ran from Thursday 8th – Sunday 11th December.

Our team of 14 students from Grades 9-12 and 2 chaperones flew up to Chicago on Wednesday, and were lucky enough to attend the Terracotta Warriors exhibition at Chi-cago’s Field Museum, before going on to represent Nigeria at the conference. With po-sitions in the GA, Security Council, International Court of Justice and two country cabi-

nets, our team members collaborated on resolutions and decisions for a wide variety of topics for both present day and the 1994 historic committees.

The topics they were discussing for 2016 included addressing the zika virus, controlling nucle-ar weapons proliferation in MENA, and resolving the Syrian and Yemeni conflicts; and for 1994 they discussed peacekeeping attempts during the Rwandan genocide, the Serbian crisis, and the Haitian democratic crisis.

Our team did a really good job, engaging with challenging issues and collaborating with stu-dents from all over the continent. They represented themselves and the school fantastically, and we’re super proud of how well they did! Once it was all over, we even had a chance to

play in the snow and really get in the Christmas spirit

Holiday Photo Scavenger Hunt

Middle School Leadership organized a Holiday Photo Scavenger

Hunt to help get everyone in the Holiday spirit! Teams of 6-8 stu-

dents ran around the school completing tasks, taking photos for

proof of their accomplishments. The creativity was impressive and

laughter was heard throughout the halls! Thanks to the PTA for

their support of the event. Have a wonderful and restful break!

PTA

Happy Holidays from the PTA!

Happy holidays to the entire school community from the PTA! We thank you for your support so far this year in driving school spirit and supporting our teachers and students.

We look forward to seeing you in 2017 when school resumes.

Teacher Appreciation -

Holiday Sweets for our Fac-ulty and Staff

The PTA delivered a sweet treat to every faculty and staff member as they head out on their own holiday breaks. Our school is privileged to have such committed staff, and we wish you a 'sweet' holiday season.

with Brandon W

What is your taste in music? Favorite song of all time, favorite at the moment?

-I tend to enjoy all kinds of music, except for country. My favorite genres would be Alternative / Classic Rock, Rap and Soca. I listen to all sorts of music, so I don’t have a favorite song.

Other than schoolwork and studying, what activities do you enjoy?

-I enjoy playing music, relaxing with friends, playing video games and going to the gym.

Which is your favorite place on this earth? Why?

-My favorite place on earth would be New York City because there is never a time where you’re alone. NYC is a place where inspiration, dreams and creativity come true and I hope I am lucky enough to live there one day.

What is one quality you admire most in others?

-The overall best quality someone can have is honesty.

What is your favorite quote? Why?

-“To choose doubt as a philosophy of life is akin to choosing immobility as a means of transportation.” ― Yann Martel(Life of Pi)

This is my favorite quote because when I first read Life of Pi, it jumped out at me and has stuck in my mind ever since. I think it represents me in the way I try to live my life, which is why it's one of my favorite quotes.

I was born and raised in Grand Cayman, and grew up as a 5th generation Caymani-an. The only country I’ve ever lived in is The Cayman Islands.

I’ve been fortunate enough to be at CIS for 5 years! I am a funny, down to earth guy who loves music, hanging with friends and most importantly, technology.

I think my best personality trait is that I’m understanding. However, I think that my worst personality trait is that I have very little patience for some things.
