MathematicsIndividualized MathematicsStudents entering grades 6 - 12

This Individualized Mathematics course provides any student the opportunity to study, at a suitable pace, a mathematics subject of his or her own choosing. Two teachers tutor students in the same classroom, enabling them to accelerate their progress while providing individual attention for students experiencing difficulty in mathematics. Prior to the start of classes, students should meet with a math teacher at their school to discuss goals for the summer program. They should bring a textbook recommended by that math advisor for use in class. Individualized programs are offered in the following areas: middle school mathematics, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, analytic geometry, introductory calculus and SAT mathematics. In order to do justice to the title “Individualized Mathematics,” this course will be limited to eight students per section. If a student’s summer schedule does not allow placement in the preferred grade-level session, he/she may request to be enrolled in the other session - some mixing of grade level sessions occur. (This course is divided into two three-week sessions which may be combined to create a six-week course.)
