1. Sew (1) 2” x 40 ½” Fabric B strip to each side of the 22 ½” x 40 ½” Fabric A panel. Sew (1) 2” x 25 ½” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A panel to make the Center Block (Fig. 1). Trim the block to measure 24 ½” x 42 ½”.

2. Place (1) 3 ½” Fabric B square on the top left corner of (1) 6 ½” Fabric C square, right sides together (Fig. 2). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 2). Flip open the triangle formed and press. Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼” away from the sewn seam (Fig. 3).

3. Follow Figure 4 for the seam direction to add a 3 ½” Fabric B square to each of the remaining corners of the 6 ½” Fabric C square to make (1) Block One square (Fig. 5).

4. Repeat Steps 2-3 to make (4) Block One squares total.

Table Topper Assembly (Follow the Table Topper Layout in Figure 14 while assembling the topper.)8. Sew the Left Side and Right Side Borders to the left and right side of the Center Block.

9. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 42 ½” Fabric I strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 38 ½” Fabric I strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

10. Center (1) 5 ½” x 58” Fabric J strip on (1) side of the Center Block and pin in place. Start sewing the strip a ¼” from the top edge of the block and stop a ¼” from the bottom edge. DO NOT TRIM THE EXCESS. Repeat with the opposite side.

11. Repeat Step 10 to sew (1) 5 ½” x 52” Fabric J strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block, making sure to stop and start ¼” away from each end of the block. To miter each corner, fold the Center Block on a diagonal, wrong side together. This should line up the strips from adjacent sides (Fig. 13).

5. Repeat Steps 2-3 and refer to Figures 6-10 for fabric identification, placement and seam direction to make (2) of each block square for Block Two through Block Six.

6. Follow Figure 11 and sew (7) assorted Blocks together to make the Left Side Border.

7. Follow Figure 12 and sew (7) assorted Blocks together to make the Right Side Border.

13. Layer and quilt as desired.

14. Sew the (6) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric I strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

15. Bind as desired.

12. Starting at the sewn seam (represented by the arrow in Figure 13), draw a 45-degree line to the edge of the fabric. Sew on the drawn line. Trim the excess fabric leaving a ¼” seam. Repeat this step with the remaining corners to make the Topper top.

17. Sew (1) 2” x 10 ½” Fabric E strip to each side of (1) 10 ½” Fabric A square. Sew (1) 2” x 13 ½” Fabric E strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A square. Trim the block to measure 12 ½” x 12 ½” to make (1) Block Eight square (Fig. 16). Repeat to make (3) Block Eight squares total.

25. Sew the (10) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric B strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press. Cut the strip into (6) equal pieces.

18. Place (1) 2” Fabric B square on the top left corner of (1) 3 ½” Fabric C square, right sides together (Fig. 17). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 17). Flip open the triangle formed and press. Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼” away from the sewn seam (Fig. 18).

19. Follow Figure 19 for the seam direction to add a 2” Fabric B square to each of the remaining corners of the 3 ½” Fabric C square to make (1) Unit 1 square (Fig. 20).

20. Repeat Steps 18-19 to make (12) Unit 1 squares total.

21. Repeat Steps 18-19 and refer to Figure 21 for fabric identification, placement and seam direction to make (12) Unit 2 squares.

22. Sew (2) Unit 1 squares and (2) Unit 2 squares together, alternating them from top to bottom. Sew the new sewn strip to the left side of (1) Block Seven square to make (1) Place Mat #1 top (Fig. 22). Repeat to make (3) Place Mat #1 tops total.

23. Sew (2) Unit 1 squares and (2) Unit 2 squares together, alternating them from top to bottom. Sew the new sewn strip to the left side of (1) Block Eight square to make (1) Place Mat #2 top (Fig. 23). Repeat to make (3) Place Mat #2 tops total.
