The hydroelectric project of Las Minas has several water intakes divided into two
stages and linked together by means of pipes of different sections and
characteristics. All of them are joined in the forebay of 130 m long and 50 m width,
which has a spillway for the evacuation of the excess flow. This forebay feeds,
through a valves house, two penstocks with 915 and 771 mm in diameter and 898 m
of length. The power house is equipped with three Pelton turbines that, after the
revamping, have increase their unit power to 7 MW instead of 5 MW which they had
in their original design.

trap. From the sand trap to the forebay the water flows along a canal, that includes a
1335-meter-long tunnel. The forebay has been designed with 10.5 m of length and
4.5 m of width. The water feeds the two horizontal Francis turbines with a penstock
of 1.9 m in diameter and 2161 m of conduction.

The water intake is located on the Huaura river, where the captured water goes
through a sand trap to avoid the entrance of solid particles. Its conductions are
divided into three sections. The first and the second one consist of a 100 m of

time it is 200 m long that arrives at a forebay. From the forebay to the power house,
the water is directed through a 350 m of penstock. The water that arrived at the
power house is turbinated by two Pelton turbines.
