2019 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT

One way to welcome the spring weather and highly antici-pated summer season was with the planting of trees at our Hinkle Contracting headquarters. For the 2019 Arbor Day cel-ebration, Hinkle Contracting employees from the Paris office held an annual Arbor Day tree planting ceremony as part of our Sustainability Initiative.

We owe thanks to our employees for our gorgeous and boun-tiful gardens. In an effort to improve habitats for vital pollina-tors, employees from our Paris location joined in the effort of pulling weeds and mulching our garden to keep it perform-ing at its peak potential.

Green Thumb

Hinkle Contracting engineered and constructed the second company-made canoe and kayak take out in Clay City on the Red River. This project was located in the woods between Seventh Street and Red River and was named in honor of Carmen Cress. Excavation began on the project in early April 2019. Hinkle Contracting donated equipment, materials, and labor to construct concrete steps from the grade to the river.

Kindergarten Tour Kindergarten classes from Oak Hill Elementary School vis-ited Hinkle Contracting’s Somerset Stone location. While at Hinkle Contracting, students toured the crushing plant and learned about workplace safety as well as the resources re-quired for construction. After lunch in our equipment shop, classes were able to view a production blast. Thank you to teachers and students at Oak Hill Elementary for allowing Hinkle Contracting to share a day with you.

Angel Tree Giving Each holiday season, Hinkle Contracting partakes in Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. This program provides new clothing and toys for Bourbon County children in need. Hinkle Contracting employees that choose to participate receive $100 gift cards to shop for a family. Hinkle Contracting is passionate and proud to give back to our Bourbon County community!

Breast Cancer Baptist Health Corbin, Triple Crown Concrete, and Miss Heart of Central Kentucky, along with several cancer survivors, gathered to support and speak about our newly formed partnership. Triple Crown Concrete partnered with Baptist Health Corbin in an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer. For every yard of concrete delivered by one of our three new pink trucks, Triple Crown Concrete will be donating a percentage of sales directly to the hospital. Using philanthropic dollars to help combat breast cancer with these proceeds and other fund-raising initiatives, Baptist Health Corbin plans to purchase an additional 3-D or tomosynthesis mammography unit. Hinkle Contracting is also proud to celebrate their philanthropic efforts with Baptist Health Richmond. By working to raise awareness and contribute to funding for breast cancer detection and treatment, our partnership continues to flourish.
