Dear Fellow Parishioners,
How well do you listen and follow?
Well, that is the underlying theme of our readings today.
God is calling each of us to listen to Him and to follow Him.
Be prepared! He may be trying to reach us through the
prophets, complete strangers, clergy, or maybe even our
own family members. In the first reading, God sent the
prophets to preach to a stubborn group of his Jewish
followers even though he knew that they would not likely
listen to him. In the second reading, St. Paul speaks about
his own weakness and the troubles he faced, but still trusted
that God would use them for HIS glory. In our gospel
reading, Jesus was amazed by the lack of faith and the
rejection by his own family members and the people of his
home town. Today’s readings call us to open our hearts,
our minds, and our whole self to the presence of God in
others. When you look at those around you, do you see
God in them? I am still working on that. But thanks to all of
you who make it very easy for me to see God through your
terrific attitudes, charity, and faithfulness.
HAPPY 1
st
BIRTHDAY HOLY FAMILY PARISH!!!
On July 1st, we just celebrated
our 1st birthday as the new
Holy Family Parish, and our
first fiscal year (July-June)
also ended on June 30th.
I believe that our first year together was a tremendous
success!
Some great news….Our income exceeded budget
expectations, while our expenses were under budget! That
made for a healthy year end balance sheet. We are
definitely stronger together as one parish than we were as
five separate ones. The official financial statement will be
released in the coming months.
To say the past year, with the unprecedented pandemic,
was a challenge would be a huge understatement. It was
indeed a dynamic year filled with many challenges, but we
also had many blessings too! It was ONLY by the
generosity of our faithful parishioners, the two rounds of
PPP grants ($449,207), and our prior cost saving efforts that
allowed us to weather this storm and remain on solid
financial ground. We thank God and our parishioners for
providing everything we needed. We are truly blessed!
I am very fortunate to have had the unique perspective and
opportunity of watching our parish grow and transition
together into one parish. It has been wonderful to observe
how so many of our parishioners are willing to step up and
serve as faithful volunteers. We are indeed “One Body” with
many parts, none of which we could do without. Our
volunteers, guided by the Holy Spirit, are the life-blood and
strength of our parish. With so many amazing and selfless
individuals, that regularly give of their time and talents, we
are able to serve our parish and surrounding communities
with such joy. Working closely with so many of these great
people certainly makes my job much easier and much more
enjoyable. Thank you all.
MORE FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL NEEDED!!
With that being said...HELP! Our Annual Festival is quickly
approaching and we STILL need more of our faithful
volunteers to lend a hand and help us make this a huge
success. It is our most important fundraiser of the next fiscal
year. We have something for everyone: Setup, food
preparation, phone orders, games, raffles, food booths,
cleanup, and more. Please consider joining us and
experience the opportunity of working with some of our
great parishioners. Sign-up online or call the parish office.

SCRIPTURE READINGS FOR THE FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
READING 1 EZ 2:2-5
As the Lord spoke to me, the spirit entered into me and set
me on my feet, and I heard the one who was speaking say to
me: Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, rebels
who have rebelled against Me; they and their ancestors have
revolted against me to this very day. Hard of face and
obstinate of heart are they to whom I am sending you. But
you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord God! And whether
they heed or resist—for they are a rebellious house—they
shall know that a prophet has been among them.
RESPONSORIAL PSALM PS 123:1-2, 2, 3-4
R. Our eyes are fixed on the Lord, pleading for His mercy.
To you I lift up my eyes who are enthroned in heaven—As the
eyes of servants are on the hands of their masters.
R. Our eyes are fixed on the Lord, pleading for His mercy.
As the eyes of a maid are on the hands of her mistress, so are
our eyes on the Lord, our God, till He have pity on us.
R. Our eyes are fixed on the Lord, pleading for His mercy.
Have pity on us, O Lord, have pity on us, for we are more than
sated with contempt; our souls are more than sated with the
mockery of the arrogant, with the contempt of the proud.
R. Our eyes are fixed on the Lord, pleading for His mercy.
READING 2 2 COR 12:7-10
Brothers and sisters: That I, Paul, might not become too
elated, because of the abundance of the revelations, a thorn
in the flesh was given to me, an angel of Satan, to beat me,
to keep me from being too elated. Three times I begged the
Lord about this, that it might leave me, but He said to me, “My
grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in
weakness.” I will rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses,
in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me.
Therefore, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships,
persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of Christ; for when
I am weak, then I am strong.
CF. LK 4:18
R. Alleluia, alleluia
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He sent me to bring
glad tidings to the poor.
R. Alleluia, alleluia
GOSPEL MK 6:1-6
Jesus departed from there and came to his native place,
accompanied by his disciples. When the sabbath came He
began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard Him
were astonished. They said, “Where did this man get all
this? What kind of wisdom has been given Him? What mighty
deeds are wrought by His hands! Is He not the carpenter, the
son of Mary, and the brother of James and Joses and Judas
and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” And they
took offense at Him. Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not
without honor except in His native place and among his own
kin and in his own house.” So He was not able to perform any
mighty deed there, apart from curing a few sick people by
laying His hands on them. He was amazed at their lack of faith.
VACACIONES, UN TIEMPO PARA SER UNA MEJOR
FAMILIA

¿Le he pre-
4. Las bases de mi familia. ¿Qué aspectos necesitamos mejorar co-
mo familia? ¿Deberíamos dedicarnos más tiempo de calidad, tener
más organización, etc.? ¿Cómo podemos mejorar la comunicación
para prevenir problemas o discusiones? ¿Tenemos bases sólidas de
amor y confianza o necesitamos reforzarlas?
5. Nuestros hijos.

CHURCH OFFICES CLOSED
The church offices will be closed on Monday,
July 5th in honor of The Fourth of July.

Holy Family Parish is pleased to announce a return to a more regular schedule for Eucharistic
Exposition and Adoration, starting in July, with hours at each parish, the first weekdays of the
month. We are seeking faithful Adorers to sign-up and spend an hour with Jesus in the
Blessed Sacrament. Our ability to provide these opportunities and grow this devotion
depends on the active participation and willingness of our parishioners to fill in the schedule,
so someone is always present when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed. As an extension of the Liturgy, this is a time to medi-
tate more deeply on the mystery and adore Jesus in the ultimate Sacrament of Love. In addition, our “First Week” of Adoration,
will include Benediction at 6:15PM, on Monday July 5th, at St. Januarius, prior to the 6:30PM Mass.
We will also have a Family and Children’s Holy Hour at St. Irenaeus Church on Wednesday, July 7
th
from 5:00PM - 6:00 PM.
During this time, families are encouraged to stop in with their little ones to experience the Real Presence of Christ, without the
pressure of silence.
Please note that we are now using Flocknote for sign-ups. You may utilize the following links to volunteer for a Holy Hour. To
receive future Flocknotes regarding Eucharistic Adoration, please log into Flocknote, and subscribe to the group “Holy Hour and
Adoration Times”. Please call the office if you need assistance signing up for adoration.

Assisted Living and Nursing Home Ministry
Most of the assisted living and nursing homes are now open for some level of spiritual care. Presbyterian Senior Care
includes three facilities (Westminster, Willows and Woodside Place) and Oakmont Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, both
in Oakmont, Concordia at Ridgewood and Longwood in Plum, and Seneca Manor and Place in Penn Hills. One of our priests
is now able to offer Mass once a month according to the schedule shown on Tuesday and Friday afternoons. We are seeking
volunteers who might help with Communion or Rosary services other weeks of each month at each place, as well as
assistance at Mass with distributing Holy Communion, Lectoring, Serving, or even helping wheel residents to and from
services. Contact Sister Lynn Miller if you are willing to help in any capacity. Safe Environment clearance with the Parish is
needed and some facilities have other clearance requirements as well. We are also looking for those willing to take Holy
Communion to those homebound at private residences. Thanks to all those who have offered to help with this ministry
so far and for those who respond to the Lord’s call to this in the future.

traerán a tu vida matrimonial y familiar.

Living Jesus Prayer
Heavenly Father, pour forth your Holy Spirit to inspire us with words from Holy
Scripture. Stir in our souls the desire to renew our faith and deepen our
relationship with your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ so that we might truly believe
in and live the Good News. Open our hearts to hear the Gospel and grant us
the confidence to proclaim the Good News to others. Pour out your Spirit, so
that we might be strengthened to deepen our faith, grow in confidence to
proclaim the Gospel, and boldly witness to the saving grace of Your Son,
Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one
God, for ever and ever. Amen.
