Altar Rosary Spiritual Day of Renewal All women of our parish are invited to join in a Retreat Day at the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation, in Carey, on Wednesday, May 13. It will be a day of prayer, meditation and listening. The day will include the Liturgy of the Day, Rosary, and a Holy Hour with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, an opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconcilia-tion, a visit to the Shrine Park and the gift shop. Religious articles purchased will be blessed after the liturgy. Registra-tion, with coffee and rolls, will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Shrine cafeteria, with the conclusion of the day around 3:00 p.m. If you would like to attend this retreat, a sign up sheet is located by the elevator entrance. Deadline for registration is Monday, April 27. A car pool can be organized with all who sign up, as in the past years.

Happy Easter.

I've decided to stop and smell the roses. The problem is

that the roses aren't blooming yet and daffodils don't have

much aroma. Nice excuses. How good are we at making

excuses to keep from doing what we should?

And that brings me back to Easter. Easter is a time of

great love and great joy. The Lord rose so that all of us

would have life abundantly and eternally. He came that

we would all, and for all times, know this love. So what

are we waiting for? The time is now to share the Easter

message. What excuses do we use to keep us from being

Easter people?

Ever since Easter, a meditation that I have been using is

imagining Jesus coming out of the tomb. Although a little

boy said on Easter morning that the Easter Bunny came out

of the tomb, I try to see Jesus coming out to show

life. I picture the Lord embracing Mary Magdalene to pro-

claim that He is alive. As I try to make the scene come to

life, I hear Jesus speak Mary's name with a smile on His

face. He is now alive and wants her to share the Easter joy.

I've pictured my parents being embraced by Jesus. Je-

sus' resurrection is timeless, so I picture the Lord embrac-

ing them. And the smile, which welcomed Mary at the

tomb, welcomes mom and dad. I like to picture them fully

alive, although they have been taken home years ago.

And then I picture the people around me with Jesus'

arms around them. I have to say that it is easier for me

to see Jesus' arms around some people than others. And

then I stretch my comfort zone and let Jesus embrace peo-

ple who may not be so embraced by me. And if Je-

sus can put His arms around them, I should also. AND DO

IT TODAY! It is Easter now, even if the roses aren't

blooming.

The last person I see embraced by the Lord is my-

self. There are times I tell the Lord to embrace someone

else who might need it more than I ,or I'm not worthy to be

embraced right now. Let me get my act together and then

you can show your life to me. Would I allow myself to hug

Jesus back? Would I love Him today or make excuses not

to embrace Him in return?

Happy Easter. Easter is not an event that happened

years ago or something that will happen years in the fu-

ture. Easter is for today. Smell the roses. Let the Lord

come forth fully alive and embrace you. Embrace Him

back and all of God's people.

Supports Newborns - Age 3 “Baby Needs” is a non-profit organization, affiliated with the Putnam County Thrift Store, which helps moms and dads of newborns through the age of 3, through parenting classes and by your donations. They are collecting donations and baby supplies, such as diapers, new and used clothes, baby toys, wipes, new pack and plays, new cribs and new car seats (the last three items have to be new for state law purposes). Putnam County Hospice Volunteers Needed

PC Hospice is seeking volunteers to offer companionship to patients, respite to caregivers, assistance with administrative tasks, as well as assistance with special events and fundraising projects. Following orientation and training, volunteers can choose their area of involvement. PC Hospice welcomes volun-teers in all areas, but is especially in need of licensed massage therapists and individuals with musical talent. WMOF Scholarship Winners Announced

The Diocese of Toledo has selected 15 families to receive par-tial scholarships to attend the World Meeting of Families (WMOF) in Philadelphia, PA, September 22-25, 2015. At the conclusion of the WMOF, the families, along with other pil-grims from the Diocese of Toledo, will participate in Pope Fran-cis’ first visit to the United States, on September 26-27, 2015. "I am overjoyed at the response from so many of our families who want to attend this once-in-a-lifetime event" said Bishop Daniel Thomas. "Pope Francis has made the promotion of fam-ily life and addressing its challenges a hallmark of his pontifi-cate. One family was selected from each of the fifteen deaner-ies, or regions, of the Diocese of Toledo. Stanley & Amanda Gerten and their four children, from Leipsic, were chose from the Saint George Deanery.

Tuesday, April 28, in the banquet hall side of the K of C Hall, on Cable Road, in Lima. Social hour (with pizza and bever-ages) will be from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., and the presentation will be from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. This presentation will feature David Kidd, son of Kevin and Kathy (Maag) Kidd. David is a 2005 graduate of LCC and was just recently ordained a Transitional Deacon in the Toledo Diocese. He has spent considerable time in Rome for his studies and will return there later this year. He will share with us his faith journey that has led him on the path to Priesthood. He will talk about his vocation story, life in Rome, and even Pope Francis. We are very blessed to have such an outstanding young man entering the priesthood to serve the Catholic Church and its members. Please show David your support by attending this event on April 28.
