▪ Special houses usually found in earthquake prone zones

▪ Light material house is made up of wood, bamboo and hollow brick

▪ This lowers loss of human life to a greater extent

▪ To avoid collapsing, now a days roller houses are preferred

Boat house

• Boat house is a floating house

• In India boat houses are popular in the states of Kashmir and Kerala

• These are mainly used for tourist purposes

• Boat house is a wooden house mounted on a boat with all amenities

Building materials o a large variety of materials are used in building houses some of them are cement,

sand, bricks clay etc.

o these materials are used according to geographical conditions and strength

required.

o materials used in building houses also depend on their availability

o for example, in Hilly and Rocky areas stones are mostly used in building houses

similarly in forest areas wood is used.

Multi-storey building ➢ A multi-storey building is a building that has multiple storeys,

➢ Due to the lack of space availability big cities have a large number of multi storey

buildings

➢ From residential to Commercial multi storey concept is applicable

➢ In big cities even officers and Markets follow the trend of multistoried building

➢ Multi storey buildings are advantages for big cities as there is shortage of space
