Login to Noodletools and you will come to your list of projects.

Now choose the project you want to work on and click on it

And you will be taken to your project dashboard

Now you can go to your source list and create a new source

Click on “Create New Citation”

Now choose your source’s container...it’s a ‘website’!

Now it is time to find the information you will need!

All citations for websites need a minimum of 5 pieces of information:

1. Webpage URL

2. Website name

3. Website publisher

4. Date of publication or copyright date

5. Webpage name or article title

If possible, you should also find:

6. The name of the author of the page or article

Where do I find the URL?

It is located at the top of the webpage in the address box:

Where do I find the website name?Never take the website name from the URL. You will find it on the home-page of the website. The website name of this site is BBC.

Where do I find the publisher?

Usually at the bottom of the page!

And the date of publication?

That is also at the bottom of the page!

But wait a minute! There is another date on this page!

That’s the publication date!

You should always use it instead of the copyright date from the bottom of the page!

How do I find the article or page title?

It’s usually at the top of the page below the website name or at the head of the article somewhere on the page:

If you scroll down the page you will find this article on the leaders of Papua New Guinea, entitled Leaders. If you were using this article, that would be the title you put in your citation.

If you were citing the article at the top of the page...

Then here is the title:

Where do I find the author?

Their name, if it is given, will be under the article title

or at the bottom of the article or

there may not be one!

Here is the page where you will fill in your information:

Now click on ‘submit’ at the top or bottom of the page!
