ArcReader - ArcReader is a free, easy-to-use desktop mapping application that allows users to view, explore and

print maps and globes authored by any ArcGIS Desktop product and published with the ArcGIS Publisher extension.

ArcEditor - ArcEditor is a powerful GIS desktop system for editing and managing geographic data. It includes all

the functionality of ArcView along with additional advanced editing tools to ensure the quality of your data.

ArcEditor supports single-user and multiuser editing, allowing you to disconnect from the database and edit in the

field.

ArcInfo - ArcInfo is the most complete desktop GIS. It includes all the functionality of ArcEditor and ArcView and

adds advanced spatial analysis, extensive data manipulation, and high-end cartography tools. Organizations use the

power of ArcInfo every day to create, edit, and analyze their data in order to make better decisions, faster. ArcInfo is

the de facto standard for GIS.

ArcGIS Desktop - ArcGIS Desktop is the platform for creating, editing, and analyzing geographic knowledge to

examine relationships, test predictions, and ultimately make better decisions. ArcGIS Desktop has three license

levels—ArcInfo, ArcEditor, and ArcView—that share the same core applications, user interface, and development

environment. Each license level provides additional GIS functionality as you move from ArcView to ArcEditor to

ArcInfo.

ArcGIS Engine - ArcGIS Engine is a collection of GIS controls and components that allow developers to add

dynamic mapping and GIS capabilities to existing desktop or mobile applications or new custom applications.

ArcGIS Mobile - ArcGIS Mobile consists of a ready-to-deploy field data collection and inspection application and a

custom Software Development Kit (SDK). It is tailored to organizations’ specific workflows and synchronize

directly with ArcGIS Server, making data updates instantly available to field staff as well as everyone in the office.

ArcPad - ArcPad is data collection software for mobile GIS and field mapping applications. It provides database

access, mapping and global positioning system (GPS) integration to field staff via mobile devices.

ArcGIS Server - ArcGIS Server is used to deliver and manage GIS, map, image, and data services across the

enterprise and the Web. ArcGIS Server has three editions: Basic, Standard, and Advanced. Each edition is available

at two levels: Workgroup and Enterprise. Click link to find out more.

ArcIMS - ArcIMS delivers dynamic maps and GIS data and services via the Web. Esri’s development of ArcIMS is

now limited. Our server GIS development efforts are devoted primarily to ArcGIS Server.

ArcGIS Engine Runtime - ArcGIS Engine Runtime contains the required infrastructure that will be installed on the

target computer to run ArcGIS Engine applications. Developers can package ArcGIS Engine Runtime with their

applications or can allow end users to purchase the runtime directly from Esri. The runtime software is activated via

a license key. If the end user has a valid ArcGIS Desktop license on the target computer, no additional runtime

Installation of  ArcGIS Desktop 10 This document gives you step by step instructions for installing ArcGIS 10 on your Windows Operating

System machine. These instructions should be sufficient for installing ArcGIS Desktop 10. However, if

you need more assistance, you can call the OIT HelpDesk at 974-9900, or use our walk-in service. Walk-

in support hours are usually 4 hours per day and are listed along with locations each semester athttp://oit.utk.edu/research under "Schedule."

Warning: Once ArcGIS Desktop is installed it will not be authorized. Please contact the OIT Helpdesk to

obtain a license code or provisioning file.

If you have an earlier version of ArcGIS already installed, you must remove both ArcGIS Desktop and

ArcInfo Workstation before starting the installation.

In order to install the ArcGIS 10 License Server Administrator, you must uninstall any previous versions.

In addition, the installation of ArcGIS 10 prevents ArcGIS 9.3 and earlier versions to no longer work. There is however a work around that can be implemented to run two versions of ArcGIS. The work

around can be found here. http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/12240-Run-ArcGIS-10-and-ArcGIS-9.x-8.x-

etc.-together-on-Windows-7

Check for updates at the ESRI Support Center. Download and install the most recent Service Pack.

Installing ArcGIS Desktop 1.  Download “ESRIArcGIS.ZIP” from http://oit.utk.edu/software. If you have a slow connection to

the Internet, or don’t have enough disk space you can purchase a DVD version at UT BookstoreTechnology Center. See http://utbookstore.tennessee.edu/uccs for more details such as location

and hours.

2.  Once downloaded, extract all files to the desired location.

3.  Once extracted, open the folder and run the “ESRI” application to open the installation setup

window.

4.

Click on Setup next to ArcGIS Desktop and follow the installation wizard’s instructions.

Note: It is recommended that you choose a Complete installation.

5.  Continue the process and the installation will begin. This can take several minutes. Once the

installation is complete you should see a success window.

6.  Click Finish and the ArcGIS Administrator Wizard will open.

7.  At this point, if you have not obtained a license code or provisioning file from OIT you are

finished with the installation process and need to obtain the proper license. If you have obtained a

license code or provisioning file please refer to the instructions provided by OIT that were

included with the license code or provisioning file.

Information and Support Please contact the OIT Helpdesk at 974-9900 for license codes and provisioning files.
