The MovementsServing

Each play starts with a serve. The team that received the last point, serves the ball.

To serve, the player must toss the ball into the air, slightly above their head, and proceed to hit the ball with their preferred hand.

A serve is then followed by three popular movements..

The Movements cont.Passing

The first major movement in volleyball is passing, otherwise known as bumping.

The player bends down and positions themselves as if they are leaning forward while sitting in the chair. They then use their forearmsto pass the ball.

The Movements Cont.Setting

A set is the second movement.

The player should position their hands as if they are drinking a 2 liter, or catching a football. They then hold their hands above their head, and let the ball fall into them. Finally, they push upwards and forwards to release the ball.

The Movements Cont.Hitting

The third movement in volleyball is hitting, otherwise known as spiking.

The play approaches the ball as it is set to them. They then jump up and hit the ball, similar to a serve. With a snap of the wrist, the ball is shot downward at the opposing team.

Rotation

• If a team wins the serve by scoring a point, then they are required to rotate clockwise.

• This is done to change up the server.
