Why Write a Blog At All?
My blogging story…
Step One: What’s the purpose?
• Who are you trying to engage?
• What problem does your blog exist to help solve?
• How will your blog help them solve this problem?
Step Two: Decide who will provide the blogging voice of your organization
Step Three: Develop your blog’s style
• Color scheme (3 colors)
• High-tech/low-tech• Site vibe/culture• Mobile• Videos/images • Number of menus necessary…
Questions?
Step Four: What do you want visitors to do?
• Opt-in to your newsletter? • Donate money? • Connect with you on social media?
• Download something? • Something else?
Step Five: Make a clear path
Once you know which action you primarily want your site’s visitors to take, make it VERY obvious and make the action EASY to complete. (Test it yourself first to make sure it works.)
Step Six: Make it easy to engage with your content
Step Seven: Map out your blogging/writing schedule
Step Eight: Use royalty-free images
Step Nine: Have fun!
• Text• Videos• Slideshows• Interviews• Infographics• Podcasts etc
Step Ten: Stay consistent & current
