Toggl is an extremely simple time tracker.


It is meant to improve productivity.


• Toggl is time tracking software operated by Toggl OÜ, headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia, that offers online time tracking and reporting services through their website along with mobile and desktop applications.

• Toggl tracks time based on tasks and projects, either through an interactive task timer or through manual entry.

Let’s begin the tutorial!


Go to Google.com.


Type “toggl”.


Hit Enter.


This will appear.


Click on the toggl link.


You will be directed to the official website.


This is the homepage.


The homepage may change in appearance over time.


Just by simply looking at the homepage, you will already know how Toggl works.


You will see that there is a time tracker which shows how long you have been reading info in Toggl.com.

There will also be a flash video on the applications of Toggl.


Just click on “See the video” to watch the explainer video.


Toggl can be used in the following:


Time your board meetings



Time your patience


Time your holiday



Time your lunch



Time your tardiness



You can time just about anything!



To start using Toggl, we would need to sign up first.



Click on either “Sign up” or “Start Tracking”.



This will appear.


There are two ways to sign up.


You can use your email.


Or you can simply log in using your Google account.


For this tutorial, let’s sign up using a Google account.


Click “Sign up with Google”.


After signing up, you will be directed to your Toggl dashboard.


There will tips in green and white which serve as a walkthrough of Toggl’s features if you’re a first time

user.


This is how it looks like.


Click on “Ok, let’s go!” to acknowledge.


This is your dashboard.


Type your current activity here.


Then click on “Go”.


You will see that the time tracking will start.


Click on “Stop” once you’re done with your activity.


You can edit the time manually by clicking the recorded time.


Just input the desired changes here.


You can edit the start time, end time, the date.


You can add time manually by clicking on “Add Manually”.


This will appear.


Type the activity here.


Add the start and end time here.


The duration will automatically be calculated.


Edit the date here.


A calendar will appear.


Just select the date when the activity was done.


Click on “Save”.


You will see a summary of the activities you’ve done in the dashboard.


You can create “Projects” to segregate specific tasks.


There are several ways to do it.


You can click “+Create A Project“ under the Timer tab.


You can also create one under the “Projects” tab.


This is the Projects tab.


From the Projects tab, click on “Create Project”.


This popup will appear.


Type the project name here.


You can also specify the client.


Click on “Select Client”.


Type the client name here.


Let’s say for example that the client’s name is John Smith.


Type “John Smith” in the field and click “Create client “John Smith”.


You can color code your projects by clicking on “Project color”.


If you are part of a team, you have the option to make the project visible to others in the team.


Just tick on “Public.”


Let’s keep the project visible only to you for now.


You have the option to make changes at a later time.


Click “Create project.”


The next time you create a task, you now have the option to put it under a specific project.


Let’s start timing a task.


Go back to the Timer tab.


Click here.


Type in the task here.


Select the project.


Then click “Go!”.


Toggl would start tracking time spent on the activity that you entered.


Just click on stop once you’re through.


Toggl can be added as a browser extension.


Let’s add Toggl to Google Chrome.


Go back to Google and type “Toggl button chrome”.


Hit Enter.


Click this.


This will appear.


Click on “Add to Chrome”.


Click “Add” when this popup appears.


You will see this notification and the Toggl icon.


To start tracking just click on the Toggl icon in your Chrome browser.


Click on “Start timer.”


The Toggl icon will change its color to red which means it is actively tracking time.


Click on the Toggl icon to see the real time tracking.


If you are done with the activity, just click on “Stop timer”.


Toggl may be also be incorporated to third-paty applications such as Asana and Basecamp.


If you incorporate it to Asana for example, you will get an email towards the end of the week on the tasks

that were tracked using Toggl.
