HUAWEI QUIDWAY S5700 HOW-TO TIME SCHEDULED POE
www.ipmax.it
SETTING TIME SCHEDULED POE At this time energy costs are slowly growing day by day. Within each network infrastructure, energy conservation
has become very important to be considered by all businesses. In a network infrastructure that include hundreds of
POE IP phones, you can save hundreds of kWh per year and $ by switching off all unused POE IP phones during
non-business hours. In the description of this basic procedure we will assume that we are able to log in to the switch
through telnet or through the console port. We desire to power off a specific port of the switch for a specific period
of time. At the end of specified period of time POE will resume automatically.

[Huawei] time-range Telephony 19:00 to 23:59 working-day
[Huawei] time-range Telephony 00:00 to 07:00 working-day
[Huawei] time-range Telephony 00:00 to 23:59 off-day
Enter the configuration view
Define a time range, setting a name.
Here «Telephony». Then set this period
inside a week. Options available are
«working-day» or «off-day» for
weekend days.
Never assign a time range as 19:00 to 07:00. This will cause an error, instead use multiple line to cover all the day round if multiple intervals are desired
1. First of all set a time range
ASSIGN TIME SCHEDULED POE TO A SPECIFIC INTERFACE
[Huawei] interface GigabitEthernet0/0/1
[Huawei-GigabitEthernet0/0/1] poe power-off time-range Telephony
[Huawei-GigabitEthernet0/0/1] quit
[Huawei] quit
<Huawei>
2. Select interface to apply POE scheduling
Apply the time range previously defined, at the interface
VERIFYING POE SETUP
-<Huawei> display poe power-state interface GigabitEthernet0/0/1
- Port legacy detect : disable
- Port power enabled : enable
- Port power ON/OFF : on
- Port power status : Powered
- Port PD class : 2
- Port reference power(mW) : 7000
- Port power priority : Low
- Port max power(mW) : 30000
- Port current power(mW) : 1961
- Port peak power(mW) : 2067
- Port average power(mW) : 1603
- Port current(mA) : 37
- Port voltage(V) : 53
3. During business hours displaying POE port status will result:

A last note.
Transition from «Time-range powered-off» status to a stable «Powered» status will
take a couple of minutes.
