Its pretty obvious that it means a hole. The same can be said for the term "tooth decay,. Tooth decay is a disease process where acidic food formed by bacteria cause damage to the hard (mineralized) tissues of the tooth.Causes & Risks of the Tooth DecayThey are usually painless, but they can grow very large, and damage the soft structures of the tooth like the dentin and the pulp, which is found at the core of the teeth. If they remain untreated, they can kill the nerve and blood vessels of the tooth, and ultimately the tooth itself.Eating a diet rich in sugar increases the risk of tooth decay, and the foods that are sticky are a big problem since the are more likely to remain on the tooth.
